I visited Wilma briefly tonight to deliver
her two CD sets. Her daughter, Evelyn, was also there. She is a delightful lady, full of life and energy. We chatted for nearly 20 minutes, but she was late for choir practice. Otherwise, I would probably still be there. I took the solo photo of her in such a way as to include the portrait over the mantel. The other includes her daughter. As she was leaving, we agreed to meet again when her photos of Miss Holladay were developed. - Dave Spriggs

Thank you so much for the wonderful job you did on my husband's (Coach
Pete Robinson) page on the
NNHS Web site. It was very touching, and I
appreciate your skill and effort in putting it together. That picture of "Pete"
from the '56 yearbook, especially, makes me cry every time
I see it. I've had
such pleasure in sending the page to my children and as many of his former
athletes and friends as I have addresses for.
I've had wonderful responses of
how great they think it is.
Newport News High School was such a special school and all of us "old" teachers
are very proud of the way our students have turned out.
I was only there in 1956
and 1957 but know how much it means to all of us! Thanks again for a wonderful
job, and I hope to meet you one day.
Sincerely,
-
Wilma Salmon Robinson (WHS - '51)

Thank you, Wilma! I'm glad it pleased you!
After viewing
the Alumni Listings and enjoying the photos and remarks on the Wilma S. Robinson
page,
I could recall vividly the attention this attractive young teacher received
by many of the young men of the Class of 1957 upon her arrival at NNHS.
We all had great respect for Coach Pete "Pistol Pete" Robinson,
so you cannot image the excitement created when their wedding plans were
announced.
All of my buddies and I agreed that this was a "perfect match", if there was
ever one. We were right!

Indeed you were! Thanks, Joe!
Our class
adapted Wilma Salmon Robinson as our Class Sponsor, and it was great to see her
and her daughter,
who has Coach Robinson's curly hair.
TYPHOON Regards,
