Frances Page Maguire, 75, a retired teacher of history and government, died Friday, Oct. 1.

Maguire retired in 1971 after 25 years at Newport News High School where she had also served as a guidance counselor. A lifelong Peninsula resident, she was a native of Newport News.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and was an elder. She was presented with an honorary life membership in the Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the Newport News Education Association and was active in the community theater.

Survived by a sister, Susan
Maguire of East Walpole, Mass.; and a brother, Peter Maguire of Millis, Mass.

Memorial service at 5 tonight at First Presbyterian Church of Newport News by Dr. Eugene Soud. Burial will be private.
