FRED KOCHLI, JR.
RICHARDSVILLE - Lt. Col. Fred Kochli Jr. (Ret.), 77, formerly of Richardsville, Va., died on Monday, March 30, 1998, at Bon Air Home for the Elderly in Stephens City, Va.
Lt. Col. Kochli was born on Feb. 25, 1921, in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Capt. Fred and Gertrude Kenton Kochli. He was a career Army officer, graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point in June 1945, serving as a company commander during the Korean War and retiring from the military in 1965. Lt. Col. Kochli taught high school and college math in Newport News from 1966 until 1973, when he retired to his farm in Richardsville.
His wife of 32 years, Dr. Valerie R. Kochli of Richardsville, preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1987. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Kochli Spivey of Hampton; a son, George Andrew Kochli of Richardsville; five grandchildren, Andrew Michael Kochli, Mallory Lauren Musgrove, Benjamin Fred Kochli, David Radus Kochli, Alexandra Valerie Spivey; and a sister, Marianne Kochli Andrews of Houston.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Culpeper, by the Rev. Al Hooher.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that relatives and friends simply take a moment and remember Lt. Col. Fred Kochli in their prayers.
