Winding down from yard work with some idle cybersurfing. I thought .... "Fooks" has got to be one of the most unique names in the country, so it shouldn't be too hard to locate him. Put his name into the online phone book; he is the ONLY "CURTIS FOOKS" in the entire USofA:
Fooks, Curtis Then, Googled his name. Three hits: Historic SocietiesFrom: Curtis Fooks Email: cefooks@hotmail.com Any information about "Maid of the Mist."

The second hit occurred because his home in
Roanoke is adjacent to a proposed construction site for a school athletic
field. Curtis Fooks 6/14/04 English Wm. Byrd High Roanoke So, now we know where he lives, his phone number,
e-mail address, and that he retired from teaching high school English at
William Byrd HS in in 2004. - Dave

Carol, I scanned the teachers web page and noticed Curtis Fooks listed. Curtis graduated from Warwick High in 1958 and played football with me for four years at Warwick. He was a very hard hitting tackle. His wife Nan Rae Marion, was in my class of 59.

I remember Curtis Fooks (Warwick HS - '58)
because of one particular incident: he arm wrestled Stanley Binder, a
NNHS
student ('62), on a desk (the teacher's desk, as I recall), in the classroom no
less. I had to leave before the contest was over. Mr. Fooks was very strong. I
believe that he had been a wrestler at Emory and
Henry. Stanley Binder was equally strong. Both were red-faced from the
exertion. Neither man got into any kind of trouble over this, so far as I know.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Mr. Fooks lives in Roanoke, not five
minutes from my front door. Maybe I'll email him to see who won the match. I
remember why he engaged Stanley in this battle of wills, but I decline to share
that with you.
