Cassie Lewis Childress, 91, of 3100 Shore Drive, died Friday, March 20, 1998.

Miss Childress was born in Buckingham County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Moss Childress . She was a graduate of the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, and received her master's degree from Columbia University. Miss Childress had retired from the Newport News Public School System where she had taught math for many years.

Survivors include her niece, Mary Lewis Williamson of Chesapeake and her nephew, John H. Williamson Jr. of Virginia Beach; her grand-nieces and nephews, Amy Jonak, McCoy Williamson, Reps Williamson and Jack Williamson and her great-grandnieces and nephews, Josiah Williamson, Emmett Jonak and Cassie Williamson.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Philip G. Porcher. Viewing will begin Sunday morning, and the family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
