Chesapeake Boulevard between Wythe Parkway and Chesterfield Road, Overlooking the Hampton Roads,
Hampton, VA 23661
The 2009 World Submarine Racing Championships
Well, what did you expect to see?
... Hope the rest of your day goes better!
P.S. Don't feel bad ~~ I looked at all the photos too.

One little kiss, a moment
When was the last time anyone went down to Chesapeake Boulevard to watch the Submarine Races?
Chandler Nelms (HHS - ‘63) of MD - 09/10/05
Sigh. Thanks, Chandler!
away from the Peninsula on 12/30/67, and though I returned for the Summer of
'68, for all intents and
purposes, I was gone, so I really couldn't say when I last watched... um, I mean, ah.... what am I saying?!?
- Carol Buckley Harty of NC - 09/12/05
In reference to "Passion Pits"
in the September 24th newsletter
- does anyone remember "Skeeter Beach"?
This also was on Chesapeake Boulevard in Hampton. It was a little road that ran beside the Wilks home,
(Karen Wilks '64).
- Donna Chadwell Nunemaker ('64) of VA and FL - 09/24/05
AHA! Thank you, Donna! I knew there was one more on Chesapeake Boulevard!
You made mention of Skeeter
Beach. As I recall it was located between Wythe Parkway and Chesterfield Road
on Chesapeake Avenue and of course, on the water side. A dirt/sand road went down to the beach, there were
two or three small trees and a old shack. Boy, that was a long time ago!
- Tim Rogers
(HHS - '66) of VA -
AT LAST!!! We have pinpointed the exact location! Thanks so much, Tim!
Tim, Thanks for the memories. My
God, I haven’t thought of Skeeter Beach or
Beer Can Alley since I was
actually in high school……and I don’t know why. Your mentioning of these two ”special” spots conjured up all
kinds of memories, none of them involving alcohol or lewd behavior, of course.
- Chandler Nelms (HHS - '63) of VA
Oh, of course. We would never think such things! Thanks, Chandler!
