request
of 06/24/09 - "I
recently had an abnormal stress test, and therefore I'm having a heart
catheterization tomorrow. I know that prayer works, as Dale's
miraculous recovery is proof of that. I'm very nervous about it, so
please keep me and my family in your positive thoughts and prayers. I
will update everyone as soon as I'm able to. Thanks so much for being
such wonderful friends";

update
of 08/29/08 - "I was going to suggest that you remove me from the Prayer List,
since I had become pain free. However, two weeks ago, I carried a 25-pound bag
of cat litter into the house, and since that time, I've been in quite a lot of
pain again. So stooopid of me! I am so thankful for and send love to anyone
who's been praying for me. I know how much it helps.";

"I
went to see my orthopedic surgeon and found out my shoulder is damaged. It seems
I have torn tendons and will probably have to live with it. He could go in with
a camera and try to find and repair the tears BUT it isn't something he thinks
will work and will only do it if I insist. It seems those type of repairs after
a replacement hardly ever work, and my down time would be a lot longer than 7
months... I started driving myself and went back to work way too soon plus
overdid the therapy so I am stuck with being able to raise my arm 30 degrees
straight up and to the side. The pain beyond that is worse than it was before. I
feel a bit down right now and tend to cry some. Oh well! I guess things could be
worse. It could have fallen off, and how would I shift the car?";

"I saw Dr. Wottowa (ortho surgeon) on Wednesday and after he saw
the artho-gram I had done in November, he told me I have 2 torn tendons. On Jan
9 I will have ANOTHER surgery to try to repair them. He will use a camera
first to check the muscles to see if they are still good enough to reattach
the tendons and have them hold. It will out patient as the procedure isn't
that invasive. I have no idea how long I will be down this time, but I'm
sure it will require another round of physical therapy";

"slipped (on rain-slicked pavement) and fell landing on my left knee and
hand. After being x-rayed forever my knee is fine and my hand has so much
degeneration changes they can't tell if it's broken or not. Since I swell so
much when I break anything I can almost guarantee I have a broken bone in the
back of my hand. Plus the pain is so bad it makes me sick and you all know how
high my pain tolerance is and this made me cry. Tylenol 3 hasn't even knocked
it down.";

Larry Cutler,
husband of
Carol Anne Comer Cutler ('70) of VA -
request
of 08/21/10 - motorcycle accident on 08/09/10 - "He is lucky to be alive and
has a long road to recovery. The worst of the damage is to his lower left
leg. He is not to put any weight on that leg for 3 months. For a guy who was
always on the go, being homebound is and will be very hard for him.
Everyone's prayers would be appreciated."
Brenda Davis English
('64) of KS -
request
from her daughter, Debbie Reece, of
12/02/08 - "Mom has
battled lung cancer and won, breast cancer surgery in November of last year, and
we thought she was defeating it but now the cancer has decided to attack her
spine. She is still making herself get up and dressed every day, even if it is
for an hour. Looks forward to going for her radiation and chemo and still had
38 people here for Thanksgiving dinner although she did not stay up very long -
she did get to see the food she had been preparing for a week gobbled up and
many, many happy faces...out of 9 children in mom's family there are only 4
left. We are the ones left to mourn while they are the ones to rejoice at the
feet of the Father. With all that she has gone through she says she is in God's
hands and when He decides to bring her home He will. She has no fear of dying
nor of the pain she has been having since the allergic reactions to morphine and
codeine. Hopefully, next week they will be zapping the nerves around her lower
lumbar area to ease her pain. Keep her in your prayers, please."

"...
It's been a
while since I have updated you on Jimmy. I wanted you to know he has worked
half days since September and yesterday was his last day at
Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding. He went
back to work after his stroke to finish out his time until his retirement, and
has retired after 41 years at the shipyard. He is doing well, but still has some
weakness in his right hand and arm. He truly is a miracle, because he has made
a remarkable recovery. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed him and encouraged him
and prayed for him.
Now that we are both retired and I have him with me 24/7, I am asking for your
prayers for ME!!!!!! I am so thankful on this Thanksgiving Day for Jimmy's
recovery.....and for his Typhoon family...."

request
of 08/20/09 - "...
many prayers have been answered in regards to the
surgery undergone by John Eugene Ellis ('61) of FL at
the Moffitt Cancer Center, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL. Gene is such
a private individual that he would prefer that others not know of his battle
with cancer, but I also know that a lot of his buddies from
NNHS are very
concerned about him and hope he recovers soon, and gets back on the tennis
court. He is likely to go home to Lakeland tomorrow!!! He is doing very well,
and getting grumpy again which is a sure sign of healing"

"We have recently found out that our son,
Stuart Hallett III, 42, has been diagnosed with Large B cell Non-Hodgkins
Lymphoma. He is undergoing the preliminary tests at Johns Hopkins in
Baltimore. To better connect with our family and catch up with the latest
information, may I ask you to share with the class of 1960 (and anybody
else) the website that can keep us all in touch with Stuart's progress?
All we ask is that everyone keep us in their prayers and send a message to
Stuart and his family:
