THEN AND NOW:
In 9th grade (summer of '69) I would walk to the Burger Chef on Kecoughtan ... buy two Big Chef's at 49 cents each,
then walk to Merrimac Motors and buy a nickel Coca-Cola.
For a little over a buck that was quite a meal.
I made that walk on 12/22/2004 to take the pictures .... what a change in 35 years!
Can't get a sandwich in the vacant lot, but you can still get a Coca-Cola at the Eckerd Drug store,
but the drink now costs more than the entire meal did then.

Thanks, Tom!

If you notice .... the 'then' shot of Merrimac Motors was taken at an elevation above the road.
Judging from the angle of the shot I would suspect that it was taken from the upper deck of B&M Drive-In
which was directly across the street.
If I had a connection with someone on the upper floor of those condos perhaps I could recreate the angle :-).
Happy Holidays to all ...

Great idea!  Thanks again, Tom!

Merrimac Motors on Kecoughtan Road was founded by Neil Carwile and is now operated by Pomoco
who was founded by Dois Rosser in Poquoson. .
