Color Guard
"The Senior Band Officers are elected
by the band at the beginning of the school year.  Along with the officers, one representative from each grade
in the band helps to conduct all the band business.  With the aid of the Drum Major, this council serves as the nucleus
for the Senior Band."
"The Color Guard is the unit
to the marching band that adds color
and variety.  They carry the national, state, and city flags in marching performances.  This year the color guard was featured
in the Ferguson-Newport News football game."

1965 Anchor, p. 85
"The drum majors have the most difficult job in the entire band - that is, to lead the band.  Randy Smith, a junior, is serving
in his second consecutive year as leader of the marching band.  His assistant is Jim Brinkley, a senior, also serving in this capacity for the second consecutive year."
"The Varsity Flagtwirlers perform with the Senior Band at all pep assemblies, pep rallies, parades, and at Winchester, and
at the Armed Forces Day Parade.  During the year the Flagtwirlers were featured in two football games and two annual concerts.  These girls add variety to the band with their grace and skill."
