Senior Band Varsity Flagtwirlers - Betty Edwards ('55); Barbara Fowler ('55); and  Harriet Corson ('56);
"A more deserving young lady than Barbara Shockley could not have been chosen for the 1955 Band sweetheart.  Here, Carleton Spivey, Drum Major, presents Barbara during the halftime of the game to her many Typhoon admirers." "Here Barbara Shockley,
our lovely band sweetheart,
is escorted off the football field
by the flagtwirlers."
"Attired in their smart blue
and gold uniforms is the pride
of our school,
the Senior Band."
"These snappy strutters lend color and entertainment to football games and  pep assemblies as they display the balance and precision with which they perform their many difficult skits and routines.  The flagtwirlers are chosen by the band director and the former flagtwirlers.  As well as appearing in many local parades, they accompany the band in band concerts.  Being a flagtwirler involves many hours of hard work and practice."
