can get you into hot water."

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

My connection problems (and a few others) continue to plague me, but I hope and trust that your frustration levels are lighter, and that you're having a wonderful holiday season!

From One of my Famous Marines -    Herb Hice of MI, who served in the Pacific Theater
during WWII - 12/26/06 - "Dear Carol, Gift From Carol Buckley Harty, Christmas 2006":

  Dear Carol,

I just received your Christmas Card with the beautiful Crocheted gift today, I already hung it on my Sleigh. Did you make it yourself ?? I must say that you have beautiful handwriting.

Ohhhh ~~~ You duzzent hass to call me MR. Hice, ~~~ You can call me Herb, Or you can call me Herbie BUT, You Duzzent hass to call me ~~~ MR. Hice,

More later,
Your friend, Herbie

I'm glad you liked it, Herbie!  Yes, I made it myself; that's why it was so late arriving.  One would think after 49 years I could have built up some speed at crocheting, but alas, I'm very slow at that as well.  Happy New Year, Herbie Darlin'!

From My Niece, Shari of VA - 12/26/06 - "Weirdest of 2006":

Most unusual people of 2006.

YIKESARONI-RINI-ROONI!    I should certainly say so!  Thanks, Shari - I think!

From One of my Famous Marines -    Herb Hice of MI, who served in the Pacific Theater
during WWII - 12/26/06 - "Dear Carol, A Carpenter's version of a Christmas Tree":

  Dear Carol,

This is what a Carpenter's version of a Christmas Tree in his home would look like.

Your friend, Herbie

This is absolutely wonderful, Herbie - and so appropriate!  I love it!  Thanks, Sweetie!

From My Niece, Shari of VA - 12/26/06 - "The 10 Commandments for Optimum Living":

This is cool, Shari - and rather important insights especially appropriate as we near the end of the year and our minds turn towards resolutions.  Thanks, Lady!

  From Glenn Dye ('60) of TX - 12/26/06 - "Buy a dog":

If you want someone who will bring you the paper
without first tearing it apart to remove the sports section ....

then buy a dog.

If you want someone willing to make a fool of himself
simply over the joy of seeing you .

then buy a dog.

If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of
him and never says its not quite as good as his mother made it .

then buy a dog.

If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour,
for as long and wherever you want ...

then buy a dog.

If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't
care about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies...

then buy a dog.

If you want someone who is content to get up on your bed just
to warm your feet and whom you can push off if he snores ...

then buy a dog.

If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you unconditionally, perpetually......

then buy a dog.

But, on the other hand, if you want someone who will never come when you call, ignores you totally when you come home, leaves hair all over the place, walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes home to eat and sleep, and acts as if your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness .......

then buy a cat!

   GIGGLES!!!  Thanks, Glenn!

From My Niece, Shari of VA - 12/26/06 - "Keep this going for AIDS research":

Hello everyone,

Your mission is to do the chore below and pass this to your many friends. No scam, just plain goodness.

Bristol- Myers is donating a dollar to AIDS research every time someone goes to the web site below and moves the match to the candle and light it.

The web site takes a moment to load, but it is beautiful and very moving. Wait a little while to watch all the candles that have already been lit.

It takes only a few seconds to raise a dollar for a very important cause.

Thanks so much, Shari!  We've all lost friends and family members to this ruthless disease.

From Bill Black ('66) of GA - 12/26/06 - "Kennedy Center Honors":

Quick!  Did anybody else watch the Kennedy Center Honors Tuesday night on CBS?

During the first set, saluting Smokey Robinson, they aired clips of other singers doing his songs, and I swear to Gawd there was a girl singer, swayin' to some song of his, backed up by two of the 1964 NNHS Varsity Cheerleaders!!  It was just a quick clip, but I recognized two of the girls, wearing their blue sweaters.

Anybody else catch it?  If I imagined it, I'm gonna have to cut back on my medications..

Bill Black, Class of '66

ARGHHH!!!  I did see that fabulous show, Bill - and remarkably was only out of the room for a few brief moments.  Unfortunately they came during the Smokey Robinson segment....

This definitely sounds like a mystery worthy of solving.  Thanks, Bill!

   "Anyone?  Anyone??"
