Dear Friends and Schoolmates, There is more sad news this Sunday evening. Reva Woodard O'Neal, Glendale High School (NC) Class of 1952, mother of Joyce O'Neal Dail ('64) of OH, Danny O'Neal ('68) of VA, and Robert O'Neal ('71) of VA, passed away in Smithfield on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the age of 84.

It is with great sadness that I pass on to you the news of my mom, Reva Woodard O'Neal, having passed away Wednesday evening.

Our family thanks all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time.

Reva Woodard O'Neal

			SMITHFIELD - Reva Edith Woodard O'Neal, 84, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011. Born in Johnston County, N.C., Reva was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Creech Woodard. She graduated from Glendale High School, Kenly, N.C., and moved to Newport News, Va., in 1952. She had been a resident of Smithfield since 1986. A devoted wife, and beloved mother and grandmother, and great-grandmother, Reva was passionate about caring for her family. She was a great southern cook. She was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church. Reva retired from the Commissary at Fort Eustis, in 1988, after 28 years of service. Preceded in death by her husband, Audrey O'Neal; brothers, Mavon and Joseph Woodard; sisters, Irene Durham, Lucille High, Eula Mae Watson, Gertrude Wheeler, Grace Brinchek; a grandson, Larry Dail; and son-in-law, Archie Dail.

	Reva is survived by her daughter, Joyce O'Neal Dail of Wooster, Ohio; two sons, Danny O'Neal and his wife, Debra, of Newport News, W. Robert O'Neal and his wife, Sharon, of Smithfield; her grandchildren, Alan Dail (Angie), Rob O'Neal (Leslie); Heather Elliott (Bill), Patrick O'Neal, Joseph O'Neal, and Amy Everman (John); and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Wilson, Rutherfordton, N.C., and Jean Leggett, Kenly, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. A service celebrating Reva's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, in Smithfield Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Donald R. Rhoton officiating. Burial will follow in St Luke's Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday in Colonial Funeral Home for visitation and at other times in the family home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Smithfield Baptist Church, 100 Wainwright Drive, Smithfield, VA 23430. The family also expresses thanks to the staff of The Newport, for their many years of care of their loved one. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, Va.
