Hampton High School Class of 1948

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   We have another sad edition of the NNHS Newsletter this Saturday morning.
  Spencer Arnold, Hampton High School Class of 1948, passed away in Yorktown on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the age of 80.

   He was the brother of     Dave Arnold ('65) of VA, and the brother-in-law of     Pam Smith Arnold ('65) of VA.

    From Fred Mays ('60) of VA - 12/14/11, 10:02 - "Brother of      Dave Arnold ('65 of VA)":

Hello Carol:

In case you have not been informed,    Spencer Arnold passed away tonight. He is the older brother of Dave Arnold, '65. I believe Spencer was 18 years older than Dave. He was a retired minister and a member of Northside Christian Church. He was well regarded and will certainly be missed. He graduated from Hampton High School. Arrangements have, of course, not been made at this point.

Thank you for all you are doing.
You are the best!

Take care, Fred Mays, '60

   Oh, Fred, I am so sorry to hear this! I met Spencer at Dave and Pam's celebration seven years ago, and was instantly impressed by a sense of his innate goodness and kindness. He will be missed by many, and our deepest condolences are extended to Dave and all of Spencer's family. Thank you for letting me know!

My Faith Looks Up to Thee

Words by Ray Palmer, 1830

Music by
Lowell Mason (08 Jan 1792 - 11 Aug 1872), 1832

My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
O may my love to Thee,
Pure warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!

While life's dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my Guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow's tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

When ends life's transient dream,
When death's cold sullen stream
Over me roll;
Blest Savior, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!
