Poopsie is both the strongest and the most positive person I have ever known. He is my hero. I am so thankful to my parents for making him my Godfather. I owe him for a lifetime of laughs and inspiration. There's no one else like "The Poops".

Poopsie as we all knew him by was one of a kind......I have worked with him at the shipyard for over 40 years and I can still hear that special whistle he had and will always remember all the laughs he brought with him. God has a special angel now and heaven won't be the same with Poopsie there. To his family, remember all the good times with your dad, he loved you all very much and take good care of his Cadillac......

Poopsie was the nicest person I have known. Everyone was glad to see him when he  came in every day. If you were having a bad day and were lucky enough to see Poopsie, he would brighten it up for you. I never heard of anyone that did not like Poopsie. Our monthly dinners will never be the same. I know he is in a better place.

It's difficult to imagine the shipyard without Poopsie. It's hard to imagine the world without Poopsie. A true original and bright light to so, so many. We are all better for having known you.

Poopsie was the kindness, funniest and thought about people all over Newport News Shipyard everyday. I'm so blessed to have known and worked with him. I loved to listen to his jokes....sometimes the same one over and over again. He will be missed by so many. My prayer is with the family at this great loss of a love one.

Nearer, My God, to Thee

Words by Sarah Flower Adams (22 Feb 1805 - 14 Aug 1848), based loosely on Genesis 28:1119,[1], 1841
Music (Bethany) by
Lowell Mason (08 Jan 1792 11 Aug 1872), 1856

Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
E'en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
yet in my dreams I'd be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

There let the way appear, steps unto heaven;
all that thou sendest me, in mercy given;
angels to beckon me
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Then, with my waking thoughts bright with thy praise,
out of my stony griefs Bethel I'll raise;
so by my woes to be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Or if, on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
