“When Christmas bells are swinging above the

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
I was definitely
in need of something soft and peaceful today, and this 19th Century German
Christmas carol certainly fits that bill.

PRAYER REQUEST:
From
Me
('65) of IL - 12/13/09 (altered
for date and repeated):
I feel strongly impressed today to ask
your fervent prayers on behalf of five people whose issues have not been
mentioned here before. What I'm actually requesting is
Five Christmas Miracles, as the various problems all need
to find a resolution by New Year's Eve. I know that's only 17 days away now, but
I also know among us there are some Mighty Prayer Warriors, and I would deeply
appreciate your efforts, as I'm sure would they!
Thank you all so very much - and
Merry Christmas!

From the President of the Class of 1965,
Joe Wingo of NC - 12/13/09 - "RE: Prayer Request":
Having done battle with leukemia and our (at the time) three year old daughter, I know the power of prayer I’m convinced she was able to recently celebrate her 27th birthday because of prayers answered.
So, Dear Carol, you can count on mine and as many others as I can enlist.
God bless and Merry Christmas. It is the season of miracles!
Joe
Thank you so much,
Joe Sweetie!
Merry Christmas!

From Linda May Bond Crayton ('66) of VA - 12/13/09 - "RE:
Prayer Request":
My dearest Carol,
... Prayer is big on my mind, not asking God for silly rings of gold or fancy
cars or even that someone like me, but that people everywhere be safe in their
heart and at peace in their mind.( four walls do not a prison make, nor a vast
field nor a dark street). I feel God has given us these gifts, and that in times
of sickness and worry we must all pray together to re-strengthen that person so
they are reminded we are one in God's care.
Our bodies (souls) are frail and and in the attempt to cover them in the dress
of our neighbor we fall victim to outward appearance and lose our way - like a
pair of shoes is not as important as where they take you.
Pray for you, my dear Carol? I do with all that is in my heart. In caring for
us, your neighbors, you have become a strength to us all and lead our feet to
God. I love you, Carol.....
God bless,
Linda May
Thanks so much, Dear
Linda May!
I hope you don't mind my sharing your beautiful note "with the rest of the
class".
Technically, these five Christmas Miracles I seek are for others, though I'm sure I too would no doubt reap the attending blessings, through the good ol' "trickle down" process.... Merry Christmas!

Prayer Request":

Thank you, Carol: Leaning on the everlasting arms, and remembering how our God cared for the wandering Israelite nation in the desert, as an example of how he cares for us. And that He loved us enough to suffer and die on the cruel cross for us who will surrender and follow Him.
Mizpah,
Thank you so
much, Sweet Adonis!

HEALTH UPDATE:
From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 12/13/09 - "LAURA":
Hi Carol,
Laura is better now. She is out of the hospital in Egypt, and is scheduled to
return to her home in about a week. Thanks so much for including her on your
prayer list! While she had tissue removed several times, she did not loose her
leg, thankfully. I'm sure that is one trip she is unlikely to forget.
Love,
Shari
That's wonderful
news, Shari - that was one of the scariest stories I've heard lately! Thanks for
letting us know - love you, too!

From My #5 Son,
Nathaniel
Harty (Hillsboro HS,
IL
- '97) of IL - 12/13/09 - "Burial at Sea":
Hello all
I got this from a friend from the 8th TTR CAV group I ride with (he is retired
and sends lots of emails!). This one is a very good one, and one like I've
never read before. I hope that I would never have this assignment that this LTC
George Goodson (Marines) relates of his experiences during the Viet Nam War.
I knew it would touch you and remind of your deep patriotism - and the price -
that is ever present. Mom, I'd recommend it to your newsletter. It might be a
bit long, though.
Anyway, best wishes, miss and love you all. Hope to see you all before long.
love bh
I found a link to the
article as found in the Marine Corps Gazette. The email story changes the
account a tad, and apparently without good reason. Anyway, here is the link, and
thanks, Brent, for sending the story along in the first place.
http://www.marinecorpsgazette-digital.com/marinecorpsgazette/200709/?pg=63
Thank you so very much, Brent - and Nathaniel!
I was prepared to devote today's entire
Newsletter to this important and incredibly moving selection if necessary, but
Fan's link makes it so much easier six ways from Tuesday. Given the time,
location, and even the surnames of some of the participants, I have to wonder
how many of my subscribers know some of those involved.
BTW, if y'all are having trouble figuring our how to proceed to the next pages within the link, there are some blue Back and Forth arrows thingamajiggers near the top left of the Marine Corps Gazette (September 2007 issue) page - which I personally found to be practically invisible, but then we all know that I'm as blind as two bats.....

From Al Simms

Carol,
When you get a chance you can remove my website listing as I no longer have one. AOL stopped the service and I have not had the time or inclination to recreate my various websites elsewhere. No change in my email address or other contact info.
Thanks,
Al Simms
Class of 1960
Thanks,
Al, I've been meaning to do this for some time now!
I
was hoping to hear that you HAD recreated them elsewhere, as they were
excellent, informative, and entertaining.
It being the Christmas Season of
love and good wishes, I'll restrain and refrain from giving my opinion about
AOL's removal of all these valuable websites.....

FINALLY:
From ArcaMax Jokes - 12/13/09:
Big
Turkey
A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't
find one big enough for her family.
She asked the stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?"
The stock boy answered, "No ma'am, they're dead."
*************
Water Pistols
When my three-year-old son opened the birthday gift from his grandmother, he
discovered a water pistol. He squealed with delight and headed for the nearest
sink.
I was not so pleased. I turned to Mom and said, "I'm surprised at you. Don't you
remember how we used to drive you crazy with water guns?"
Mom smiled and then replied, "OH YES! I do remember."

Kling, Glöckchen

Lyrics by Karl Enslin (1814–1875)
Music by Benedikt Widmann (1820–1910), 1884
|
Will drin wohnen fröhlich, frommes Kind, wie selig. Kling, Glöckchen, klingelingeling, kling, Glöckchen, kling! |
Ring, little
bell, ringalingaling,— Ring, little bell, ring! Let me in, you kids, So cold is the winter, Open the doors for me, Don't let me freeze! Ring, little bell, ringalingaling, Ring, little bell, ring! Ring, little bell, ringalingaling, Ring, little bell, ring! Girls, listen, and boys, Open up the room for me, I bring you many gifts, You should enjoy them! Ring, little bell, ringalingaling, Ring, little bell, ring! Ring, little bell, ringalingaling, Ring, little bell, ring! Brightly glow the candles, Open your hearts to me! I want to live there happily, Devout child, how blessed! Ring, little bell, ringalingaling, Ring, little bell, ring! |
