Newport News High School Class of 1966

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

There is belated confirmation of more sad news tonight.

From Bill Hobbs ('66) of Northern VA - 12/09/06 - "  Regina Ivey St. John"

Carol, as I heard two weeks ago, Regina (66) has passed away also, as in the obituary (of her father). I emailed    Dee (Hodges Bartram - '66 - of VA) but we didn't confirm until then. I have emailed Dee today to get the details out of "Typhoon" respect as she was one of us. It is strange that no one has seen anything on this, but that I received a phone call from one of her previous neighbors?? I have asked Dee to contact you.

                                                                                            Much love,
                                                                                                        Bill Hobbs

Thank you so much, Bill.  I myself was shocked to read of Regina's passing.

I remember Regina as such a sweet, pretty girl.  That is quite curious that you would just have heard such news.....  Thanks again, Bill.

From Dee Hodges Bartram ('66) of VA - 12/10/06:

Carol,

Several classmates found out yesterday, December 9th, that   Regina Ivey St. John, Class of 1966,  had passed away when they read her father's obituary in the Daily Press.

A close friend of hers called her sister and found out that Regina had been ill for some time.  I had talked to Regina in September, just before the reunion, but she did not share with me at that time that she had been ill.  I understand that she took a turn for the worse in November and passed away November 17.  Regina asked her family to not have a showing or to put her passing into the newspaper.  However, please put this on your site just to let people know of her passing.

Thank you,

Dee Hodges Bartram

Thank you so much, Dee.  Regina and her brother    Johnnie ('65) were both in some of my classes in high school, and I remember them fondly.  I'm honored to be able to create this Memorial Edition Newsletter for her now.

Our sincerest sympathies are extended to her entire family and all her many friends.

No. 45 - I Know That My Redeemer Liveth

- G. F. Handel

I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.
And though worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.

(Job 19:25-26)

For now is Christ risen from the dead, the first fruits of them that sleep.

(I Corinthians 15:20)
