Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
This is one of
those more obscure (to me, anyway) carols I mentioned earlier.

Dear Miss Typhoon,
Just wanted to remind your
readers that it is that time of year again when we need
to provide some financial help for OUR newsletter. A
few years ago you outlined the cost of the website,
programs, electricity and other expenses that you incur
in publishing, printing, and disseminating the Typhoon
newsletter. And if I remember correctly, your
expenses totaled far more than anyone expected and you
do not pay yourself for any of the work and time you
spend on the newsletter. So you are donating your work,
expertise, and time, and we've learned that it takes a
lot, free of charge to your readers. I believe we have
been helping every year thereafter to defer some of the
expenses from you to us, the readers. We are very
grateful for all the work you do in trying to hold
together the Typhoon Nation. Big job but we have an
expert in charge!
As you can see, my
contribution is smaller than last year because of the
economy, the stock market, and the governmental programs
that are going astray for us old folks, but I hope it
will help if just a little. I'm sure that any
contribution from your readers will be greatly
appreciated to help offset your expenses in publishing.
Thank you my LOVE and may you
and Paul have a great Christmas and a Happy 2011.
George Helliesen, 61
Thank you so
very much, George!
The easiest figure to report would be for the site hosting itself. We switched servers last year from 00freehost to AwardSpace, so the yearly cost for that alone dropped from $149.50 to $95.88 (while providing us with greater services), which will become due again on February 25. Since we moved out here two years ago, it's become trickier for me to figure out how much the other expenses are, because I just write out a check to my daughter-in-law for $513.00 (roughly half of Paul's monthly Social Security income) on the second Wednesday of each month, much of which I would assume is applied toward the monthly internet, phone, and outrageous electric bills.
And you're so right - any and all contributions are
always greatly appreciated!

| I know you like obscure and
medieval Christmas
carols, and I have three you might not have considered: Gabriel's Message (sometimes called The Angel Gabriel) - Sting - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GF2BzUDeTkY A 'Soalin' - Peter, Paul, and Mary - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zO4u-N_VGJY When My Heart Finds Christmas - Harry Connick, Jr. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5CaLcAA7ek
Thanks so much, Jean!
"Nevermind!" As it turns out, I
still had one date open on December 27, and that carol is perfect for
that day. The other two I'll place in the lineup for next year.
Thanks again!

O Come, Little Children
(
Ihr Kinderlein kommet)
Music by
Johann Abraham Peter Schulz
(31 Mar 1747 - 1800), 1790
|
Ihr Kinderlein, kommet, o kommet doch all!
