    From Eric Huffstutler (Bethel HS - '75) of VA - 12/05/06 - "Missing CRT Bus link":

Carol

I don't see the link to the CRT Bus memories:

http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/crt.html

Just thought I would let you know it is missing.

   Oh, crum!  Where do these things go?!?  Let's take a look:

               http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/crt.html

   Well, it seems to be working alright at the moment - if hiding a bit more than previously.  Who knows?  It must be a holiday mystery!  Thanks for the spot check, Eric!

BTW, I am still around and have not forgotten about the updates and my offer to restore photos nor forgotten about the SS United States pages.  I have been busy but also have had some health issues and hopefully after this week can get on these for you!

   YOWZERONI!!!  Take care of yourself, Babe!  (As you may have noticed, I'm running a wee bit behind myself....)  Thanks again, Eric!

  From Jay Styles ('68) of VA - 12/05/06 - "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year":

Dear Carol,

Good Morning.  Was going to send you a note anyway, but when I went to the web-site and noticed the passing of Debbie Sandige (Chamberlain - '70), another cold reminder, we're not immortal.  She was in my typing class, and was everything you'd want in anyone, and those dimples when she smiled, and she was always smiling.  My sympathy to her family.

   Thank you, Jay.  I added your note to Debbie's Memorial Newsletter:

http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/12-04-06-NNHS-Debbie-Sandige-Williams-Chamberlain.html

I wanted to remind everyone to be safe this Holiday Season, the past three years, I've started the Season with a fatal accident or a suicide. Anyway, everyone take care, and REMEMBER THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!

Jay Styles, '68

   YOWZERONI-RINI!!!   Thanks again, Sweetie - and Merry Christmas!

  From Richard Dawes (NNHS/HHS - '62) of VA - "Prayer":

Carol

PAUL HARVEY'S ON-AIR PRAYER

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance." "We know Your Word says, "Woe to those who call evil good," but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!"

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, "The Rest of the Story," and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired. With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called, "One nation under God."

   Thank you, Dicky! There is certainly a plethora of material in that prayer for soul-searching, evaluation, examination, repentance, discussion, and yes, even debate.  And this is surely a good time of year for such activities, as the old year is ending.

From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 12/05/06 - "Salvation Army bell ringers do not keep a portion of the money they are given":

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/charity/bellringer.asp

   Thank you, Shari! This is especially important to remember at this time of year.  It's practically inconceivable that anyone would attempt to malign the integrity of the Salvation Army, as they are surely among the top organizations of their kind, truly "doing the most good".

 From Linda May Bond Crayton ('66) of VA - 12/05/06:

Carol, I've been having difficulties with my brand new computer also. I thought it was me, but reading your letter has cheered me up no end! The last thing I want to do is ask my number one son to fix it, as this usually results in his handing me an instruction book the size of the New York City telephone directory and telling me to read it! I'm not like my parents; I don't mind telling him I am stupid and begging for help, only it falls on deaf ears. That stupid book doesn't even have pictures, I told him! I'm a baby boomer, we have to have pictures! But as you can see, my brand new Dell computer came back on today----Dude. COOL!

   Congratulations, Lady!  I had to laugh at your story.  While my #6 son,    Dale (The Super Genius) was home for Thanksgiving, I had wanted him to show me how to do two important things online.  Admittedly, I had not (and still have not) tried to figure them out for myself.  As time drained completely away from us, he patiently took me aside, showed me the tutorials, and said, "Mom, you're a smart woman.  You can figure this out, I know that you can."

   Sigh.  Okay, when I grab a minute or two, I'll take another look.  That may not happen until early January, however....

Also an aside to    David Whitley ('67 - of VA). BABY BOOMER-PICTURE. Are you sure that thing is a polar bear, because it looks, for all the world,  like a ferret to me. And what does, Wishing you ???, mean ? Is there a word missing or do I need another picture?

   OOOPS!  That was "prolly" my fault, in the way I began laying them out.  Each image in that polar bear series will be a "Wishing you...".  The wish itself was displayed under the picture.  Maybe.  Maybe not....

Don't use a ferret this time; my son had one as a pet when he was young and you just can't get the stink out of them. I can smell it now. That stupid thing bit everybody but me and I'm the one who didn't like him!

   YOWZERONI!!!

Miss Carol, I sure was happy to hear you had learned a new trick with your knees, being as we are old now and do not learn well after a certain age. The soup sounded great, and I'm sure it went fine with your car's interior as white goes with everything, even after Labor Day.

   Oh yes, the creaminess (it was a Winter White, after all) of the potato soup stood in marked and lovely contrast to the rich burgundy carpet of our silver 1989 Cadillac DeVille.  At least it wasn't my classic Beef Stew.  Those colors would have just been tacky!

Also, and I hope this is not too much to ask, I hope you said "one" for me while you were down there coordinating your car's color palette since your position sounded about right. Boy Howdy, you are always thinking of others. It's why I love you so much.  For real.

   Well, Lady, I have a confession to make.  I was in too much pain at that moment, and too stressed from the fact that we were already running late for the final rehearsal, and too aghast at the possible damage (especially of the fragrant nature) I had done to the car's interior to be in much of a spiritual mood to utter any prayer beyond a silent, "Oh, PLEASE, Heavenly Father, help me out of this mess!"   So I just had to take that matter up with Him later!

Thanks for cheering me up even if it meant you had to go down. (ha ha?)

Linda May ' 66

I Saw Three Ships

I saw three ships come sailing in,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
I saw three ships come sailing in,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
And what was in those ships all three,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day?
And what was in those ships all three,
On Christmas Day in the morning?

Mary mild and Christ were there,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
Mary mild and Christ were there,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
And all the bells on earth did ring,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
And all the bells on earth did ring,
On Christmas Day in the morning.

And all the Angels in Heav'n did sing,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
And all the Angels in Heav'n did sing,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
Then let us all rejoice again,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
Then let us all rejoice again,
On Christmas Day in the morning!
