Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

There is yet more sad news this early morning.  Harold Abraham has passed away in Hampton at the age of 82.

From the Daily Press - 12/03/07:

      Harold Sherwood Abraham

  HAMPTON - Harold S. Abraham, 82, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007.

He was born in Newport News on April 26, 1925, and graduated from Newport News High School. After graduation, he served his country in the Navy as a pharmacist's mate during WWII. He returned home after the war and opened EPH Pacing Company, with the assistance of his two brothers. He was in business for over 40 years, until his plant was destroyed by fire in 1989. After a short retirement, he decided to start Virginia Meats and Provisions at age 68. He operated the business for 10 years until his strokes forced him to retire. Mr. Abraham was an active member of B'nai Israel Congregation.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dr. Joseph Abraham, and Elliott Abraham; and his sister-in-law, Leah Abraham.

From Ilene Levinson Lieberman ('65) of Israel - 12/03/07 - "Harold S. Abraham obituary":

Hi Carol,

I read with shock about Harold Abraham - His mother was my grandmother's sister - Harold and my father were first cousins.....

I also want to take this time to thank you for all the work you do on keeping everyone up to date - I read all the emails from you - It seems that you have so much love and dedication to do this.

Anyway, thanks, Ilene Lieberman

Thank you, Ilene.  My deepest condolences on the loss of your father's cousin.....  Please extend to your family all our sympathies.

From Donnie Satisky ('56) of OR - 12/04/07:

..... I did know Harold Abraham, and his wife Thelma, and her brother Robert. I grew up with Robert in Newport News, and knew the Abraham family quite well, as my Aunt Ida Satisky's father was also an Abraham related to that very family. Harold's father and Ida's father were brothers. They, as I remember, slaughtered beef in the Jewish/Kosher tradition for many generations of Jews on the Peninsula, and I remember them well, as my father was close to Harold, Phillip, and Elliot Abraham and their father. My dad, Aaron Satisky, managed the restaurant, as a franchise, at Nachman's from around 1946 until his death in 1954, at the age of 46.....

   Thank you, Donnie.

Y'all take good care of each other!  TYPHOONS FOREVER!  We'll Always Have Buckroe!

                          Love to all, Carol
