Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   
   In the midst of our rejoicing, we have more sadness this Thanksgiving morning.   Alberta Harris Price, mother of    Robert Price ('61) of Northern VA,  Jane Price London of VA, and the late Thomas Price, passed away in Newport News on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the age of 99.

I wanted to let you know about the death of Alberta Price, age 99.  She is my cousin but most importantly the mother of   Robert Price ('61 - of Northern VA).  The announcement should be in Thursday's Daily Press.

                   Alberta Harris Price

		HAMPTON - Alberta Harris Price, 99, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. She was born on March 27, 1909, to Robert E. (Capt. Roy) Harris and Lucy L. Harris. She was a Peninsula resident most of her life. Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas A. Price Sr.; son, Thomas A. Price Jr.; granddaughter, Susan E. London; sister, Gladys H. Waddell; and four brothers, Thomas R. Harris, Linwood V. Harris Sr., M. Everett Harris and A. Royal Harris. Mrs. Price worked as an excellent self employed seamstress until she went to work for W.T. Grant Co., where she retired after 25 years. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for more than 79 years; she was the oldest as well as the longest serving member. Mrs. Price was also a member of Fidelis Class.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Jane P. London and husband, Jack of Hampton, with whom she lived for 32 years; son, Robert E. Price Sr. and wife, Elyse of Vienna, Va.; daughter-in-law, Christine H. Price of York County; sister, Gwendolyn Harris Cataldo of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Sandra J. London, Robert W., T. Keith, Robin A., William T. and Robert E. Price Jr. and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 29, at Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Paul Lawson and the Rev. Clarence Hilling. I did a little research. Alberta Harris' family lived on Tide Mill Road at Gloucester Point in the 1920 and 1930 census. It is doubtful that she attended NNHS.
