“Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful
and calm, - Mark Overby |

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Before the
holiday themed Newsletters begin on Tuesday, there's still time for another melancholy old blues number.
BONUS #1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vuPuKK31XU - More Than You Know - Johnny Mathis - a definitive arrangement with a pretty slide show!
BONUS #2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8c_svPNY8LY - More Than You Know - Mel Torme with the Marty Paich Orchestra, 1988 - Hmmm - beautiful version, but he seriously reinterpreted the lyrics, changing the entire meaning, by switching a few pronouns here and there.....
BONUS #3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBPD887Luf8 - More Than You Know - Jane Monheit with Jonathan Kreisberg on guitar and Joe Martin on bass, 2003
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/More_Than_You_Know_%281929_song%29:
"More Than You Know" is a
popular
song, with music written by
Vincent Youmans and lyrics by
Billy Rose and
Edward Eliscu. The song was published in 1929. The song was introduced in the Broadway musical Great Day where it was sung by Mayo Methot. It was also popularized on the stage and radio by Jane Froman.[1] The most popular contemporary recordings[1] were by Helen Morgan (Victor catalog number 22149),[1][2] and by Libby Holman (Brunswick catalog number 4613).[1][3] The song was subsequently included in three musical films: Hit the Deck (1955), sung by Tony Martin; Funny Lady (1975), sung by Barbra Streisand; and The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989) sung by Michelle Pfeiffer (in a memorable introductory scene for her character). It has been recorded by many artists, including Star Trek Next Generation's Brent Spiner on his 1991 album Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back. |

A sweet old lady is asked to say Grace at a gathering of "Seniors at Home" (Home Instead" caregivers (Caregiver of the Year Banquet), and she brought down the house about 90 seconds into her prayer.
