I am very saddened today to report the death of
Jack Garrison,
Class of 1963, brother of
Jerry Garrison ('67), who passed
away in Newport News on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the age of 69.

NEWPORT NEWS - Jack Alfred
Garrison, Jr., 69, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013. He was born in
Danville, VA and was a life-long Peninsula resident.
He was a Licensed Optician and worked with various local optical businesses until his retirement in 2009. He was a graduate of Newport News High School, and served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1966-1971. While at Fitzsimons Army Medical Ctr. in Denver, Colorado, he met the love of his life, Susie, in 1971. Jack was a true family man. He loved his family and was very involved in Little League Baseball. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing, and going to the movies. He had a passion and appreciation for many types of music and was an excellent cook. |

Jack was preceded
in death by his parents, Jack and Ida Garrison.
He is survived by loving wife of 42 years, Susie Garrison, and his three sons, Mark Garrison (Theresa), Jason Garrison, and Matthew Garrison, all of Newport News. He is also survived by a brother, Jerry Garrison (Kathleen); a grandson, Jack Cooper Garrison; and numerous extended family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Weymouth Funeral Home with Chaplain Darren Wiskow of Interim Health Care Hospice officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private at a later date. The family would
also like to extend their heart-felt gratitude to the staff of Commonwealth
Memory Care Center in Norfolk for all their kind, respectful, and loving care
for Jack. Donations may be made in Jack's memory to Alzheimer's Foundation of
America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001. Arrangements are by
