Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
In contrast to
yesterday's song
which I've known for most of my life, I never recall having heard this one
before. Having heard it now, I'm not likely to forget it again.

"NOR' IDA" UPDATE:
From
John London
(Warwick HS - '57) of VA - 11/15/09, 11:52 AM -
"Nor'easter":
|
Hi Carol -
In Va. Beach
this event for us was worse than Isabel.
We had some siding blown away, a small tool shed was demolished and limbs
down from my GIANT live oak. No damage to the roof tho; and all the people
and barn-yard animals, including the Meercats, are traumatized but well.
Blessed and
thankful! Behold! What
is a bell? A bell is that which sounds, far, and high ... It will echo far
and wide like the peal of thunder but under utmost purity. And evil men,
hearing the bell, will be saved.
YOWZERONI!
I'd call that substantially more than the "minimal damage"
you mentioned yesterday, but then I'm a well-known weenie!
Thanks so much for your report, John!
P.S. MEERCATS?!?
P.P.S. Love the camel!

Carol - This brief note is to let you know that my household and immediate neighbors in Va. Beach survived the Nor'easter with only minimal damage. Now this; I wonder if you know what a treasure you are? The labor of love you perform on-line for all your extended classmates may have greater value than even you know about. The forum that you provide for us (even the WHS types like myself) is not only fun and informative, but has become a warm and comforting place where sorrows are sometimes shared, honors are bestowed, and happy life events are celebrated. Your love for family, friends, and classmates rings clear like a bell. You do it all so well -
thanks for all you do! Now; if you could just
learn to spell ROSI-RONI-REEEEENI-ROOOONEEE or whatever tha heck that is
.... Now 2; I know about your modesty, girl, but post this anyhow!
Thank you - so very, very
much!
P. S.
I would have said, "WOWZERONI-RINI-ROONI-ROOTIE-TOOT-TOOTIE!!!", but
that would have been insensitive under the circumstances!

From Linda May Bond Crayton ('66) of VA -
11/14/09 - "How Many?":
| Dearest Carol, I'm afraid you misunderstood about my having fun with you. It was not how many you answered right but how many there were. 25 not 20. That's the only way I'll ever catch you because you're soooooo very much smarter than I/me?/I. 25?!? Where is that test? http://www.oldjoeblack.0nyx.com/thinktst.htm
Now I don't know how many I
answered and how many I missed.... Ah, well, I toldja was a zombie!
If and when my full faculties return, I'll try it again! And there's
no real evidence to substantiate your next remark, but I thank you for the
compliment!

Real Smart
This one happened few years ago in Switzerland: A man went to a photo shop, had
pictures taken, and - while the photographer developed the pictures - he took
off with the cash register.
Leaving behind, of course, the pictures of himself.

It Never Was You
Lyrics by
Maxwell Anderson
(15 Dec
1888 28 Feb 1959)
Music by
Kurt Weill
(02 Mar 1900 03 Apr 1950)
I've been searching through rains
And the wind that follows after
For one certain face
And an unforgotten laughter
I've been following signs
I've been searching through the lands
For a certain pair of arms
And a certain pair of hands
Yes, I tried a kiss here
And I tried a kiss there
For when you're out in company
The boys and girls will pair
But it never was you
It never was anywhere you
An occasional sunset reminded me
Or a flower hanging high on a tulip tree
Or one red star hung low in the west
Or a heart-break call from a Meadow Lark's nest
Made me think for a moment
Maybe it's true
I found him in the star
In the call
In the blue
But it never was you
It never was anywhere you
Anywhere, anywhere you
