11/11/16 - NNHS Newsletter - Veterans Day

“Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means
a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die.”

G. K. Chesterton
(29 May 1874 - 14 June 1936)

We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's theme repeats every year - as well it should.

A big Thank You to all you Veterans out there!

From My #2 Son, Brent Harty (Hillsboro HS, IL - '90) of TX - 11/10/12 (sic) - "Veterans Day Tribute":

Here is a tribute to all veterans - but particularly those US Army vets of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. I have the utmost respect and deepest gratitude to those who sacrificed. All who go on deployments sacrifice for the citizens of the United States and even the world. Some sacrifice more - but all who have, do, and will deploy, do indeed sacrifice. And the price cannot be truly understood unless you have paid the price yourself. Here is to our Veterans of the United States Armed Forces....  I spent much of yesterday putting it together. I have wanted to do this for a while, and I finally got around to it. After I re-deployed I had a different perspective on how the world looks at the US Armed Forces. Prior to deploying, this song didn't make me think of service in the Army.

WOWZERONI! What a fabulous job you did on that video! Thanks, Brent - for everything!

BONUS NOVEMBER DECORATING IDEA:

Gold Thanksgiving Décor Ideas - "Gold is a rather traditional color for Thanksgiving as well as purple and burgundy. Gold is suitable for many styles and types of serving, and there are many different accessories and tableware to choose from. Start from painting pumpkins and faux leaves gold; then take a gold tablecloth and napkins, gold candles and tableware. If you are looking for something more spectacular, mix gold with some other color – black, burgundy or white. As for materials, gold goes very well with burlap, so you use it for a table runner or napkins and easily create rustic style. An original idea is to make placecards of natural leaves writing with a sharpie on them."

BONUS PATRIOTIC CROCHET PATTERNS:
http://www.crochet-world.com/newsletters-proofing.php?mode=article&article_id=2820&key=CWNL - Barbara Roy's Star and Stripes Afghan - "Crochet this patriotic showpiece of bunting stripes and stars to adorn your house with color and display your patriotism all year long. Beginners have the skills to make this afghan and they will achieve stunning results. Bunting stripes and stars add up to a patriotic showpiece."
