November 11, 1940 - Battle of Taranto – The Royal Navy launched the first aircraft carrier strike in history, on the Italian fleet at Taranto.

November 11, 1940 - The German cruiser Atlantis captured top secret British mail, and sent it to Japan.

November 11, 1942 - Nazi Germany completed its occupation of France when France's zone libre was occupied by German forces in Case Anton.

November 11, 1944 - Dr. jur. Erich Göstl, a member of the Waffen SS, was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. It was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery, after losing his face and eyes during the Battle of Normandy.

November 11, 1992 - Russian President Boris Yeltsin told U.S. senators in a letter that Americans had been held in prison camps after World War II. Some were "summarily executed," but others were still living in his country voluntarily.
