Dear Friends and Schoolmates, We have even more sad news today. Kathleen Sherwood, mother of Barbara Sherwood Brickner ('64) of VA and Rhonda Sherwood Blackburn ('69) of VA, passed away in Daleville on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the age of 84.

Kathleen was a dear friend of my late great-grandmother, Lottie Horne, and a teacher and mentor to several in our family. She was such a beautiful person. We are all richer because she touched our lives.

Having worked with her for years and still in touch, she always remained the sweet loving and dedicated person she was.

Kathleen and I worked together in the children's Sunday School Department at Parkview Baptist Church for several years. She was a great lady - quietly wise, extremely caring, and forever a friend. Lots of stories shared about her before Sunday School yesterday morning - wonderful memories. We were in the church library and it seemed every book we picked up had been read by her. Minette and I will never forget her.

I will deeply miss my lovely Grandma; she made me a homemade carrot cake for every one of my birthdays. Shared many stories of her childhood in W.V. and how she met my Granddaddy. I will miss just stopping by her house and seeing her any time I felt like it; I never had to call first and she always answered the door with a big smile every time she saw me. I loved her very much.
