We'll Meet Again

“In the time of your life, live - so that in that wondrous time you shall not add to the misery
 and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite variety and mystery of it.

REQUEST:

 From Rosalee Wills Jecmenek ('65) of TX - 10/24/08:

Dear friends and family,

I am writing all of you to ask a big favor for me....My son, Matt, is turning the big 40..on Nov. 1st..and I would love for him to just get a big ole pile of cards for his special day...I did this four years ago for his sister, Amy, and it was a great success....since Matt is my only other child, I won't be bothering my friends and family for something like this again...so please, if you can, mail him a birthday card around the 30th of October.. and he should get them on time!!  I hope he gets a lot and that he is blown away!!

I really appreciate each one of you who will take part in this for me...if you really don't know Matt, then just write inside the card that his Mom told you it was his birthday!!  I think it will be a lot of fun, and thanks so much ...I will REALLY APPRECIATE this gesture on your part helping me to make his day a little more special....

Lots of love,  Rosalee

Matt's  address is:  Matt Souder
                                  3706  Ascot Lane

    EXCELLENT! Best Wishes in your worthy endeavor, Alan!

    From Linda May Bond Crayton ('66) of VA - 10/27/08 - "Edgar Allen Poe":

On the front page of our paper there was a piece about Poe serving at Fort Monroe under the name Edgar Perry. Does Norris Perry (Warwick HS - '59 - of VA) think this has anything to do with his family?  Does anyone know why he would serve under another name rather than his own? If he did use another name, how do "they" know it's him?

This is probably a question for
       David (Spriggs - '64 - of VA), but I'll take anyone who can help.

Thank you,
Linda May ' 66

   Hmmm - lemme see:

http://www.dailypress.com/news/dp-local_poe_1027oct27,0,1361201.story:

"... Poe enlisted in the Army under the pseudonym Edgar A. Perry. There's some debate about why he chose a false name. Semtner said Poe might have assumed the name Perry because he was ducking creditors at the time and because enlistees were typically immigrants and the poor, while Poe was relatively well-educated, having attended schools in England and Richmond, as well as a short stint at the University of Virginia...."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_Allan_Poe:

"...Unable to support himself, on May 27, 1827, Poe enlisted in the United States Army as a private. Using the name "Edgar A. Perry", he claimed he was 22 years old even though he was 18.[18]..."

   I don't know if a definitive answer exists, Linda May.

   "Norris? David? Anyone? Anyone?"

   Thanks, Lady!

      From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 10/27/08 - "New Pink & White M&M's":

Snopes concurs and what a great excuse to eat M&Ms!!!!

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/charity/pinkm&ms.asp

Please keep this going!

We have all been touched by cancer somewhere in our lives; please read below and keep it going.

I have been asked to keep this going and hope you will keep it moving too.

Pass this on to all of your friends. There are many women out there who have breast cancer.  Let's do all we can to support this cause.

The maker of M&M candies has teamed up with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds through the sale of their new 'pink & white' M&M candies.

For each 8-ounce bag of the special candies sold, the makers of M&M (Masterfoods) will donate 50 cents to the foundation. The next time you want a treat, please pick up a bag (now sold in stores nationwide) - you will be donating to a great cause and satisfying your sweet  tooth.  Just  think...If each of us buys one bag or two.... how much will  be donated.  Buy a bag for a friend...........

Please pass on to all your family and friends.

The New M&M colors

   Thanks so much, Shari! These pretty M & M's have been around now since the autumn of 2005. If you're planning to buy candy for Halloween, they would be an excellent choice!

   And it's great to hear from you again!

        From David Whitley ('67) of VA - 10/27/08 - "A bad day at Hallmark":

When you care enough to send the very best --

Ever wonder what happens when Hallmark writers are having a bad day........

My tire was thumping. I thought it was flat

 When I looked at the tire... I noticed your cat.

Sorry!

             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heard your wife left you, how upset you must be.
 But don't fret about it... she moved in with me.
             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

         Looking back over the years that we've been together,

      I can't help but wonder...

     'What the heck was I thinking?'

          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     Congratulations on your wedding day!
      Too bad no one likes your husband.
             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love.

     After having met you .. I've changed my mind.

             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 I must admit, you brought religion into my life.
  I never believed in Hell until I met you.
              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As the days go by, I think of how lucky I am...

That you're not here to ruin it for me.

             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Congratulations on your promotion.
    Before you go...
             Would you like to take this knife out of my back?
       You'll probably need it again.
                             Happy Birthday, Uncle Dad!
          (Available only in Tennessee, Kentucky & West Virginia)
             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

                                      Happy Birthday!

                             You look great for your age.

                                       Almost Lifelike!

            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
         When we were together, you always said you'd die for me.
                       Now that we've broken up, I think it's time
                                      you kept your promise.
           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

                We have been friends for a very long time ..

                                      let's say we stop?

          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                             I'm so miserable without you
                                it's almost like you're here.
          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

                 Congratulations on your new bundle of joy.

                 Did you ever find out who the father was?

          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                 Your friends and I wanted to do something
                                special for your birthday.
                     So we're having you put to sleep.
          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

           So your daughter's a hooker, and it spoiled your day.

               Look at the bright side, it's really good pay.

   Thanks, Gorgeous!

We'll Meet Again

Written by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles in 1939
and sung in the movie of the same name in 1942.

(
Vera Lynn)
(b. 20 Mar 1917)

We'll meet again,
Don't know where,
Don't know when,
But I know
We'll meet again
Some sunny day.

Keep smiling through
Just like you
Always do
Till the blue skies
Drive the dark clouds
Far away.
