10/22/16 - NNHS Newsletter - Al Hines
Albert Rinda Hines Newport News High School Class of 1965 |
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
We have another sad if somewhat belated edition of the NNHS Newsletter today.
Al Hines, Class of
1965, passed away
at his home in Hayes on
Thursday, October 13, 2016, just nineteen days after his 69th birthday.
From Sandi Bateman Chestnut ('65) of
VA - 10/21/16, 2:11 PM:
Carol, again there's bad news for
our class.
I saw in the Daily Press last week that Albert Hines passed away. I checked your website and didn't see anything about him so wasn't sure if you knew it.... Maybe one of these days, there'll be more good news to share. Thanks so much for everything you do for us Alumni!
Oh, Sandi! Thank you so much for
telling me this! Though I knew his name, I never knew Al, so in reading
this obituary last week, I was able to pretend that this wasn't really
"our" Al! Our prayers and sympathies are extended to his family.

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee,
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy riven side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save me from its guilt and pow'r.
Not the labors of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law's demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.
Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked come, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly,
Wash me, Savior, or I die!
While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes shall close in death,
When I soar to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.
