Thanks for the
invitation, but I have to decline. I have a training class Saturday and
Sunday as a Critical Incident Counselor for public safety employees. Can you
imagine me counseling anyone? I wish all of you that make it a great day, and enjoy being with each other. - Dave Arnold ('65) of VA - 10/15/03
As my
aforementioned obligation to CNU puts me in jeopardy of not visiting with
the Class of '63 on Friday evening next, now comes this wonderful
invitation to join with you and others in what will be an outstanding
gathering. It does indeed sound exciting! Oh, how I would love to visit
with all of you. After all these years have come and gone that alone would
be worth every moment.
However, my
obligation and the timing of Saturday's events leaves no doubt that I will
not be able to attend. I shall be the worse for it. Do enjoy yourselves,
as if I had to command such joy! I will endeavor to bring all of my power
to bear on the weather so that it will not ruin your outing. What, you
didn't know that I had such powers? There is so much that is unknown; and
I like it like that! Sounds like a song title.
Do make sure
that the desserts are decadent! If your activities run into Saturday
evening, please advise.

- Wayne Stokes ('65) of VA - 10/15/03 I really wish I could - well, one day soon!
Thanks for the invite, but as much as Dale and I
would love to see everyone, we won't be able to make it this time. I
drove to Winston-Salem yesterday to pick up my daughter and her baby to
stay with us for a few days. She hasn't seen family or friends since the
baby was born a month ago and is anxious to show him off. We are planning
on taking her back on Sunday and be back home on Monday. Then the
following Thursday (the 23rd) we're leaving for St. Augustine and
Sarasota, FL to see Dale's two kids and their spouses. By the way, Carol,
tell Bob Yevak we stopped at a MickeyD's in Henderson today and had
lunch. Thought about him, but as usual were trying to get back to NN as
soon as possible. If anything should change, we'll just show up and
surprise you!
- Sandi Bateman Chestnut ('65) of VA - 10/15/03 Due to previous commitments, I regret that I will be unable to attend activities at the merry-go-round on Saturday... - Jimmy Parker ('62) of VA - 10/15/03

Fred and I will be unable to attend the Saturday invite...we're in a golf
tournament and then have plans to go to dinner with friends in
Portsmouth......phooey......the weather is iffy.......but knowing the group
that's in the tournament, unless it's lightning.....they will
play!!!........by the way......I wrote to Jeannie......I understand that her
area of Gloucester got hit really hard.......and I have not heard back from
her.....I'm wondering how they made out......some people in that area lost
EVERYTHING......and I'm not sure if she's on the water or not.........my son
Bryan lives across the road from the York River (his in-laws live ON the
river across the road).....and the York River had an 8 ft. storm
surge.......demolished part of their pier......I could not believe how high
the York River came up on their banks.......just unbelievable!!!!! Ya'll
have fun Saturday.... - Janice McCain Rose of VA - 10/15/03
Jack and I will try to make it on Saturday. The weather for Sat. does not
look bad. It is calling for a high of 64 and mostly sunny. - Edna Whitcomb Harrison ('65) and We
were extremely disappointed that we could not make it there in time to meet
you all. A problem arose at the last minute and it could not be put off
until later. We came to the Carousel but we didn't get there until about
12:18. I didn't see anyone. We went by the Oasis and I didn't see anyone. We
went to the places mentioned on your other plan and still didn't see anyone.
I had no way to contact anyone to find out where everyone had gone. - Edna Whitcomb Harrison ('65) and ARGHHHHH!!!!!! Sorry Carol, I just read
this. It is Monday. Hope all had a good time. I couldn't be there - Margaret "Cookie" Phillips ('64) of VA - 10/20/03 |
