Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Today is Simchat Torah, a joyous Jewish holiday marking the end of the Sukkot festival, which to my knowledge, we've never observed here together before as the big Typhoon Family we've become. It celebrates the completion of the annual reading of the Torah.
It began in the evening of Thursday, October 16 and ends in the evening of Friday, October 17.

BEST
WISHES to the Class of '64 on their
50-Year Reunion this weekend!
From Joan Lauterbach Krause ('60) of VA -
As many of you know I am a candidate for a
Cochlear implant. Today's visit to EVMS (one of the 3 authorized
sites to perform this surgery) gave us additional information.
The implant will only be on one ear. After adjusting to the single implant a second device will be considered. There are protocols for the surgery which are required prior to the surgery, which include multiple hearing tests, wearing of hearing aids (which only amplify sounds), balance testing, MRI. We have completed most of these tests. The cost of the surgery is HUGH but covered by insurance. I am interested in talking with anyone who has cochlear implants. I want to know both success and failure stories. EVMS gave me a 'short list' that includes email addresses which I will follow up with in the next few days. I am asking for your prayers, for me to know what my path should be. Thank you. Blessing to each of you. WOWZERS! Thank you, Joan! ![]() |
