10/15/11 - NNHS Newsletter - Dan Meena

Daniel Joseph Meena, Sr.
(d. 13 Oct 2011)

Newport News High School Class of 1964

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   We have yet another sad edition of the NNHS Newsletter this Saturday.     Dan Meena, Class of 1964, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the age of 65.  He was the brother of    Eva Meena Mina ('56) and    Vickie Meena Millar ('62).

  From Eddie Perry ('65) of TN - 10/15/11, 9:54 AM - "    Danny Meena":

Carol,

  Pauline (Wright Perry - '67 - of TN) and I were visiting Pauline's mom this weekend when I picked up the Saturday Daily Press and read where Danny Meena has passed away.  Takes me back to our days at NNHS in the band.  Danny sure could play a mean clarinet.

Hope all is well with you and your family.  I appreciate your letting everyone know about my dad's (  Lawrence Perry) passing (d. 10 Aug 2011).  We certainly hate to give them up, but we all know that he is in a better place now.

Your NNHS 65 friend,

Eddie Perry

   Thank you so much, Eddie. I was reading the Daily Press obituaries at about the same time you were, and was absolutely stunned to find Danny's listing there.

   It was my honor to make your father's Memorial Newsletter; by all accounts he was a fine man.

I last saw Danny in the waiting room of a doctor's office in NN. Our conversations picked up where we had last left off talking about family, business, friends but most of all our NNHS Typhoon Band family. I'll miss you, my friend.

Trust and Obey

Lyrics by John H. Sammis, 1887
Music by Daniel B. Towner

When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy with Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide if we trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy with Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy with Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
For the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy with Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet.
Or we'll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy with Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
