Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
 
 There is more sad news this Monday.    Tommy Buckingham, Class of 1964, passed away in Monroe, North Carolina on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the age of 66.  He was the brother of Susan Buckingham Towler of VA and    Kenny Buckingham ('67) of NC, and of the late   Bill Buckingham (d. 12 Apr 2009) (See also: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/dailypress/obituary.aspx?pid=126336839#fbLoggedOut).

    MORVEN, N.C. - Mr. Thomas Wheeler Buckingham, 66, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.

Tom was born February 22, 1947 in Newport News, VA. He was a graduate of Newport News High School and King College and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War.

He retired as District Executive for the Central NC Council of Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Morven Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir, was a deacon, elder and former clerk of session.

Surviving him are his mother, Thelma Buckingham and sister, Susan B. Towler (Dave) of Yorktown and brother, Ken Buckingham (Linda) of Arden, NC. Also surviving are his wife of 44 years, Mary Wall Buckingham, his children, Thomas Wheeler Buckingham, II and Celeste Buckingham Dutton and 5 grandchildren, all of Morven, NC.

  He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Wheeler Buckingham, III and by a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kay Buckingham.
