Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Today's Newsletter first appeared exactly four years ago today:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/09-23-05-NNHS-Easier-Said-Than-Done.html
Let's just think of it as "new and
improved", rather than simply "rerun".

From Dimples Dinwiddie Prichard ('58) of
NC - 09/22/09 - "Autumn Leaves":
Yes, Autumn leaves, but it leaves us with the memory of another summer that left way too soon.... filled with memories... hopefully more good than bad !
AMEN!
And happy tears as well as
sad.....
Perhaps if
Paul Dobie ('66 - of CO) owns the house is is
already in he could sell lottery tickets to sell it and to raise the money he
needs for the 38K....it's a thought ! It's a shame that those that fight for
this Country have to pay twice ! You do the math....I am too blonde !
Dimples
LOUDER AMEN!!
Thanks, Dimples!

| Friday, September 18, 2009 - Ft. Bliss, TX | Saturday, September 19, 2009 | ||||
| FROM TOP: Joe (age 6); Tom (almost 10); Jimmy (age 4); Eme (almost 8); and Jacob (age 12) | |||||
Basically for the three in front of
flags, that was right after Basic Officer Leader Course III graduation. BOLC
III was the branch specific training. That is where we were taught more
in-depth principles of being a quality officer. Also we learned a great deal
about the Patriot weapon system, as well as little about the Avenger and Stinger
weapon systems (which are on their way out of the Air and
Missile Defense weapons
systems in Air Defense Artillery). So finally, I am done with trainings
officially for a while and will get to serve with my first unit. Recently I
found out I will be assigned to 2-43 Battalion of the 11th ADA Brigade (the
Imperial Brigade) - stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX. I will not know what battery
(same as a company) I will be in till I sign in for duty in about a week.
So the flags were in the room where we graduated (which was in the Air Defense
museum here at Bliss. BG Walker was our speaker. He is a
USMA graduate and a 30 year veteran. He is
assigned to Bliss and working on
future weapons of the Army.
... Hopefully that answers your questions...
(I surely appreciate all that you and
Dad
(Paul Harty - Bardolph HS, IL - '61 - of IL) have done for me to make that
graduation possible. I most likely would not be here in the US Army today were
it not for your heart felt mentoring over the duties we each have to our Nation
over the years - and that knowledge you both imparted of the example of our
ancestors as such!).
thanks and love, bh

The folk on the Virginia Peninsula will likely draft him into public office after seeing his hard work in this effort. His sister,

A recent picture?!? I thought that all that was left of George Washington School was one of those hideous (but okay, ja, necessary - I s'pose) parking lots or garages or empty spaces which now represent so much of what we used to know and love! Of course, I like having those images, too, so we can document (and I can recognize) that which once was. A recent picture?!?
Oh, Ed-na!!!!
Pretty please?!?

FINALLY:
From ArcaMax Jokes - 09/22/09:
The Life of a Cat
Day 283 Of My Captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine
lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that
keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from
ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another house
plant.
Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were
walking almost succeeded; must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt
to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to
vomit on their favorite chair; must try this on their bed.
Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them
aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They
only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, not
working according to plan.
There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary
throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More
importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies."
Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.
I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is
routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a
half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with
them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current
placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait, it is only a
matter of time...

My friends all tell me
Go to him, run to him,
Say sweet lovely things to him,
And tell him - he's the one.
Deep in my heart I know it,
But it's so hard to show it
'Cause it's easier - easier said than done.
My buddies tell me
Fly to him, sigh to him,
Tell him I would die for him,
And tell him - he's the one.
Although he gives me a feeling
That sets my heart a-reeling,
Yet it's easier - easier said than done.
Well, I know that I love him so.
I'm afraid that he'll never know
Because I (I-I) I get so timid and shy
Each time that I look him in the eye.
They all tell me
Sing to him, swing with him,
And just do anything for him,
And tell him - he's the one.
I got a love so true
But I'm sad and blue
'Cause it's easier - easier said than done.
Well, I know that I love him so.
I'm afraid that he'll never know
Because I (I-I) I get so timid and shy
Each time that I look him in the eye.
They all tell me
Sing to him, swing with him,
And just do anything for him,
And tell him - he's the one.
I got a love so true
But I'm sad and blue
'Cause it's easier - easier said than done.
Easier-er-er-er - said than done.
