Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
OOOOH, listen to that carousel music!
Hey, did
y'all remember that when you come back to the Peninsula for the Reunion in
October (you are coming
to the Reunion, are you not?!?), that you can go to the Hampton Carousel and
ride the horsies again?!? It's true!!!
You can even find your very own horsie from waaay back when. We've
done it before!

Sorry to hear that, Kim. But we'll keep our fingers crossed you might make it.
From Me ('65) of NC to Everybody - 09/15/05:
OH, CRUM!!!
I was looking forward to seeing you again,
Kim! Oh, well, I am nothing if not an
eternal optimist.....
From Dave Arnold ('65) of VA - 09/15/05:
Okay, now we're starting to get some
action. This is for reservations received through Thursday,
September 15th. Keep after 'em.
Dave Arnold

(By the way, Jimmy-Jimmy, you owe me three dances - two for this year and one leftover from last year.)
From Cathy Slusser Hudson ('64) of VA - 09/15/05:
Catherine Hudson
Thanks, Cathy! From all
reports, he's a real sweetie! I hope to be able to see the little fella
soon. Our # 6 son,
Dale, will return home from California in mid-January, so I'm-a-thinking
we'll probably all manage to get together
in Illinois shortly after that. Little Jim won't be quite so
new then, but he'll still be sweet and cuddly!
From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 09/15/05:
To my older aunt... who can fit an entire apple in her mouth-- ha, ha, bet this doesn't make it on your web site.
Please express my gratitude to your friend who told me tips for our kitten's breath.
Love,
Your favorite "I'm Kee-Kee" 12-year younger niece,
Shari
P.S. One of my funniest young moments was when I
asked you to smell some Avon cream and thought I'd
enhance the moment by pushing it up a little too close (wild giggles) & instead
of wiping it off you just stood
in the doorway stating "that wasn't funny!'', but to an eight-year-old it was oh
so funny!!! Think of it this way:
I was a slight preparation course for your seven. Come to think of it, I
might have been worse than all of yours
combined...he-he-he
And you
thought WRONG, Shari! We
should all be grateful for our talents,
no matter what they are. Mine just happens to be stuffing a whole apple in
my enormous mouth at once. And as
I proved
to your brother only a couple of years ago, I still have it.
Thanks again to Jimmy Hines ('64) of Northern VA for his kitten breath expertise!
Yes, yes, "Kee-Kee", that was very funny, I am sure! I was trying to stay calm to avoid murderlizing you!
And my own seven little angelic darlings
combined were indeed no match for you! You, my dear, were in a
league of your own. I will say that because of your "preparation
seminars", I broke off a couple of promising
relationships, and postponed marriage until I was 22........ ("Oh, MAN - I am
so not ready for THIS!!!")
But as they say, "Ya turned out good", so I'm glad I let you live instead of following my instincts! GIGGLES!
Thanks, Shari!

BOY, HOWDY!!!
I surely must have been stressed out for some goofy reason, Janice; my face
broke
out in hives! This is really beautiful, and very peaceful - and the
perfect timing brought me a big smile! Thanks so
much!
From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL ('57) of FL - 09/15/05:
Joe Madagan ('57) of FL
Thanks, Joe! There are
indeed a great many Lefty stories out there. Last night, upon hearing
Aretie's story,
my sister Eleanor (Buckley Nowitzky - '59 - of NC) told me a classic
herself - personally witnessed by her late
husband, Miles, dating back to when Lefty and Miles were classmates at
Granby High (Class of 1950) - and
Lefty was apparently not that great a driver himself, to understate the case.
She's promised to get back to us
on that.
And thank you, Adonis, I always appreciate your assistance!
"Northern Virginia"?!?
Honey, bite your tongue! When I say I want to move back to Virginia, I
mean I want
to move back to VIRGINIA!!!
From Margaret Hoban Wilner ('65) of MD - 09/15/05:
Margaret Hoban Wilner --- gonna hum "Tammy's In Love" all night
Hi, Margaret!!! It's good to hear from you!
Well, we're just going to have to make a Modern Cleaners page. That's a really unusual story!
I've been trying to remember
for a couple of years now the cleaners we used to patronize. The names are
all so familiar to me, and I so lack Joe Madagan's ('57 - of FL) near
total recall of practically everything. All I
can remember is the nice fragrance of cleaning chemicals, and the two beautiful
young sisters who worked
there. They were tall, thin, very light-skinned black women, and seemed to
possess very quiet, gentle spirits -
but they had the most gorgeous hands! They could have easily been
hand models, if not the usual type model.
They had long, perfectly shaped fingers - and the most incredible nails!
This was long before acrylic nails were
available, but that's how they looked, always perfectly manicured. I
thought they were the most graceful,
mystical, exotic creatures I'd ever seen. They must have thought I was I
nut case, they way I gawked at them ,
but hey - I was just a little girl.
No, wait - I was a nut case. Sigh.
Those Tammy shows were fun-stuff, weren't they?
Tammy (1965)
Thanks again, Margaret! See you in October, yes???
From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL ('57) of FL - 09/15/05:
Oh, I have seen them, Adonis! In fact, I've been using them,
although I keep thinking that's such a waste, and
that I ought to be doing something more creative with them!
Hey, Tommee - go buy some stamps to go with your red Vette! GIGGLES!!!
From Chandler Nelms ('Hampton HS - '63) of MD - 09/15/05:
Thank you for your devotion to the newsletter. It must be huge job…….
...... But I’ve got to hand it to you guys…….you’re good.
Chandler Nelms
Thank you, Chandler - we aim to please!
And speaking of Chandler, I
have some newly arrived Big Surprises for you (thank you, Gorgeous!)
which I'll save for Saturday and/or Monday, so be sure to come back then!
Y'all have a good day - and take care of each other! TYPHOONS FOREVER!
Love to all, Carol

Palisades Park
Written by Chuck Barris, who later created and starred in TV's Gong Show
(Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon)
Last night I took a walk after dark
A swingin' place called Palisades Park
To have some fun and see what I could see
That's where the girls are
I took a ride on a shoot-the-chute
That girl I sat beside was awful cute
And after while she was holdin' hands with me
My heart was flyin' up like a rocket ship
Down like a roller coaster
Back like a loop-the-loop
And around like a merry-go-round
We ate and ate at a hot dog stand
We danced around to a rockin' band
And when I could, I gave that girl a hug
In the tunnel of love
You'll never know how great a kiss can feel
When you stop at the top of a Ferris wheel
When I fell in love down at Palisades Park
We ate and ate at a hot dog stand
We danced around to a rockin' band
And when I could, I gave that girl a hug
In the tunnel of love
You'll never know how great a kiss can feel
When you stop at the top of a Ferris wheel
When I fell in love down at Palisades Park
Down at Palisades Park
FADE
You know it's Palisades Park
Down at Palisades Park
