09/11/05 - NNHS Newsletter - Patriot Day

"With the tears a Land hath shed
Their graves should ever be green."

~ Thomas Bailey Aldrich

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

I had not planned to issue a Newsletter today, but I just couldn't let it pass without mention.  I need not
remind you of the significance of today; you remember all too well.

By a joint resolution approved December 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), the Congress has designated
September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day."

From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 09/10/05:

OK, I can't find a MIDI for "Have You Forgotten" or "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue
(The Angry American)".

So, I suggest that on this "SPECIAL OCCASION" you warn the subscribers that a 400KB wav
file is coming, but it is well worth the wait.

   Absolutely!  Thank you, Captain!

You have been so warned - now enjoy!

From My Friend, Kathy Foster of IL - 09/11/01:

  SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

So many lives; so many loved,
taken on this day.
So many victims; so many heroes,
taken in terrorist ways.
Most were Americans.
Someone's father, mother, daughter, son.
I cannot recall them each by name,
but my heart knows them one by one.

K. Foster

Thank you, Kathy!  This plaque still hangs on my wall, as it has ever since you gave it to me when we left Illinois.

From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 09/10/05:

   AHHH - Toby!  Thanks, Dave!

Still looking, but you might place a link to this site:

   SUPER!!!  Thanks!

   OHHHH, DAVID!!!  WOWZERONI!!  Thanks!

And for your further patriotic listening .... get out a hanky ......

Why yes, that'll do it...  Thank you, Captain!

Here's another one to watch; way too long to post:

I just had to post it anyway.  It takes quite a long time - even with broadband - to load, and 8:46 minutes
to watch, and parts of it are extraordinarily graphic, but it's one of the most powerful videos I've ever seen.
If you can watch it and remain unmoved, I suggest you check your vitals.

Thank you so much for all your expertise, especially on such short notice, David!  You are my hero!

Faith is the bird that sings when the dawn is still dark.

~ Rabindranath Tagore

From Cookie Phillips Tyndall ('64) of VA - 09/10/05:

This is probably one of the best historical Christian and most patriotic presentations I have ever seen.
It should be read by every American, especially our children and grandchildren.  Please read it and
then pass it along to all who love our wonderful country.

(Turn up your sound  for a musical background)

WOWZERS!!!  This is extremely informative and thought provoking - and chilling - no matter what
your religion, Christian or otherwise.  Thank you so much, Cookie!

The brave die never, though they sleep in dust:
Their courage nerves a thousand living men.

~ Minot J. Savage

Y'all have a good day - and take care of each other!  TYPHOONS FOREVER!

                          Love to all, Carol

 God Bless America

- Irving Berlin

(Kate Smith)

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.
