Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Ray Charles woke me up in the middle of the night singing this song. I don't know how these people keep parading through my room; I happen to know the locks are quite secure. And how Ray got that piano up to the second floor, I've just no idea.

NEWS FLASH:
From
Me
('65) of IL - 09/09/10 - "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly":
Hi Carol, I wonder how many people realize that the Jewish new year falls on the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar and not the first? Not only that, we actually have three other New Years in Judaism. (Rosh Hashana just happens to be the one used for counting years) 1- The first of Nisan, for marking the reign of the kings 2- The first of Elul, for special taxes on various animals 3- The first of Tishrei, for counting years 4- The 15th of Shevat, for determining the age of trees for tax purposes and fruit picking b'shalom Dustin
Well, Dusty,
as often as I have tried to educate myself on the
subject, I either missed that altogether, never thought
of it in just those terms, or it just swooshed itself
from my mind as such much information seems to do to me
lately!
Thank you so much for telling us (especially me) - and
enjoy your holidays!

The info and illustrations about early days at CNC (posted
by you on 9/5) mentioned Judene Branch.
I checked to make sure, and discovered that Judene
(whom everyone called Judy - it wasn't until
recently that I learned her 'real' first name) is
the younger sister of a friend of mine. Judy
graduated from Warwick High in 1961. I'm told
Judene is her given name. It was a name her mother
read in a novel and liked.
Judy/Judene is the several-years-younger sister of Ernie
Branch (my classmate in high school, in the
Apprentice School,
and close friend for, well, forever). Judy's
husband, Ray Hartless, graduated from WHS in
1960.

Jokes - 09/09/10:Penny Scale A husband stepped on one of those penny scales that tell you your fortune and weight and dropped in a coin. "Listen to this," he said to his wife, showing her a small, white card. "It says I'm energetic, bright, resourceful and a great lover." "Yeah," his wife nodded, "and it has your weight wrong, too." |

Take These Chains from My Heart
Written by Fred Rose and Hy Heath
Recorded by Hank Williams, 1953
Recorded by Ray Charles, 1963
(Take these chains from my heart and set me free)
Take these chains from my heart and set me free
You've grown cold and no longer care for me
All my faith in you is gone but the heartaches linger on
Take these chains from my heart and set me free
Take these tears from my eyes and let me see
Just a spark of the love that used to be
If you love somebody new, let me find a new love, too
Take these chains from my heart and set me free
<instrumental interlude-one full verse>
Give my heart just a word of sympathy (sympathy)
Be as fair to my heart as you can be (you can be)
Then if you no longer care for the love that's beating there
Take these chains from my heart and set me free
Take these chains from my heart and set me free (set me free)
