September Morn is the thirteenth studio album by the American singer Neil Diamond. Released in 1979, the album includes a disco version of the Motown classic "Dancing in the Street" and a remake of "I'm a Believer".[2]

The title track was an international chart hit, and became Diamond's 30th Top 40 hit in the U.S. The song peaked at number 17 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number 14 on the Cash Box Top 100,[3] and number 7 on Record World. In Canada, it peaked at number 15.[4] The song was a much bigger hit on the Adult Contemporary charts, reaching number two in the U.S. and spending two weeks at number one in Canada.[5]

 From Thelma Baker ('65) of VA - 08/13/16 and 08/22/16 - "Luncheon":

Anyone interested in going to lunch September 14 or there about around 1 pm at Schooner's Grill [12567 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23606, (757) 599-4144]?

I know this is right before the reunion, but maybe some that can't make the reunion can join us for lunch. All alumni are invited and with your significant other.
Everyone pays for their own meal. I do have to give them a rough total of those coming. If you don't reserve, you still can come. It's just an informal get together.

I have confirmed the date and time with Schooner's and it is in the name of Newport News High School. Please let me know if you wish to join us. Your spouse or significant other is welcome even if not from NNHS.

FABULOUS! Thank you, Thelma! It sounds like such fun!  "Make it so."

From Jerry Blanchard ('62) of VA - 09/06/16:

  Thanks, Jerry!

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 09/06/16:

During a 50th anniversary wedding celebration, the husband being honored was asked to give a brief account of the benefits achieved from being married for so long.

He stood up, thought for a long moment, then said, "Well, I've learned that marriage is the best teacher of all. It teaches you loyalty, meekness, forbearance, self-restraint, forgiveness, and...." he paused.

"And?" someone cried out from the back of the room.

"... and a great many other qualities you wouldn't have needed if you'd stayed single!"

September Morn

Written by Neil Diamond (b. 24 Jan 1941) and Gilbert Bécaud (24 Oct 1927 – 18 Dec 2001),

Recorded by Neil Diamond (b. 24 Jan 1941), 1979

Stay for just a while
Stay, and let me look at you
Its been so long, I hardly knew you
Standing in the door
Stay with me a while
I only want to talk to you
We've traveled halfway round the world
To find ourselves again

September morn
We danced until the night became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way

Look at what you've done
Why, you've become a grown-up girl
I still can hear you cryin'
In the corner of your room
And look how far we've come
So far from where we used to be
But not so far that we've forgotten
How it was before

September morn
Do you remember how we danced that night away
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way
