This is my daughter Laura's dog in a contest to be on the cover of a bag
of dog food. Vote every day for Grace. Thanks.
Oh, Laura is your
daughter, Norris!
|
|
That's why I've included the link to all the candidates named Grace, along with the image of The Real Grace, lest there be any confusion. As y'all can see, she's a Weimaraner from Richmond. Grace is #1 in pet of the
month:

Hi Carol, I just ran across some old memorabilia and found this written by my daddy. As I remember the story, the USS Pasadena was directly behind the Missouri as they entered Tokyo Bay. Hope it comes through ok. And, many, many, thanks for all you do. It means so much to so many of us! Jane Monfalcone Simmons |

WOWZERONI-RINI!!! How cool is it to have a first-person narrative by one of our own! Notice the language dates before the days of "political correctness". I have double-posted this image on our site. It's in chronological order on the Odds and Ends page, and I took the liberty of adding your father to our Famous Sailors page (his bio is extremely sketchy, though...): http://www.nnhs65.com/SITE-MAP.html http://www.nnhs65.com/oddsends.html http://www.nnhs65.com/famous-sailors-introduction.html http://www.nnhs65.com/famous-sailors.html
Thank you so much for sharing this treasure with us, Jane!

From Renee Helterbran Benton ('59) of VA - 09/04/10 - "Print out and keep
handy..":
4 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do
For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it: FIRST (Emergency) The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out. SECOND (Hidden Battery Power) - MAY OR MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE ON YOUR PARTICULAR PHONE - AND MAY OR MAY NOT DECREASE THE LIFE OF YOUR BATTERY Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time. THIRD (How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?) - MAY OR MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE ON YOUR PARTICULAR PHONE - AND MAY NOT BE VERY EFFECTIVE IN FORESTALLING CHARGES To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone: *#06#. A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. If your phone is stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones. And Finally.... FOURTH (Free Directory Service for Cells) Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial: (800) FREE411 or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all - EXCEPT FOR THE NORMAL CHARGES FOR USING YOUR PHONE. Program this into your cell phone now. This is sponsored by McDonalds. This is the kind of information people don't mind receiving, so pass it on to your family and friends.
WOWZERONI! Thanks so
much, Renee!
Well, actually, it seems to be a mixture of Truth and Fiction, so I mostly removed the fiction: http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/c/cell%20phones.htm http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/cellphones.asp Still.
HMMM. These two reports do not even agree with
each other! They shouldn't try to make me crazy; they're too late - far,
far, too late!
I personally am still
trying to learn how to use my new smart phone that
Next lesson - "How to Text"!

came to the part of the story where the first pig was trying to
accumulate the building materials for his home. The teacher paused

September Morn
Written by Neil Diamond (b. 24 Jan 1941) and Gilbert Bécaud (24 Oct 1927 – 18 Dec 2001),
Recorded by
Neil Diamond
(b. 24 Jan 1941), 1979
Stay for just a while
Stay, and let me look at you
Its been so long, I hardly knew you
Standing in the door
Stay with me a while
I only want to talk to you
We've traveled halfway round the world
To find ourselves again
September morn
We danced until the night became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way
Look at what you've done
Why, you've become a grown-up girl
I still can hear you cryin'
In the corner of your room
And look how far we've come
So far from where we used to be
But not so far that we've forgotten
How it was before
September morn
Do you remember how we danced that night away
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way
