Peggy Louise Scull Hodge Newport News High School Class of 1960 |
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
We have received more sad, if belated, news today.
Peggy Scull Hodge, Class of
1960,
sister of
Robert Scull ('52),
Loretta Scull Herbert ('54),
and
John Scull ('64) of VA, passed away in
Annadale
on Sunday, February 06, 2016 at the age of 67.
From John Scull ('64) of VA to
Dave Spriggs
('64) of VA - 09/05/17, 6:55 PM - "Information on the deaths of NNHS grads...":
Dave, I'm not sure how you want to work this, but I have the info and if you would forward it to the site manager, I would be grateful. My brother was Robert C. Scull, Class of 1952. He was born on July 29, 1934 and passed away on February 17, 2016 at the age of 81. He died from complications to a COPD condition. My sister was Peggy Louise Hodge, nee Scull, Class of 1960. She was born on April 18, 1942 and passed away on February 6, 2016 at the age of 73. I don't actually know the cause of death for my sister. It was a confusing time, with the funerals several hundred miles apart on consecutive days on the same weekend. I was in charge of my brother's and had to miss my sister's. I suspect there might be old friends and classmates out there that would like to know. Both obituaries are out there if you Google them. There may be information there that the site manager would want. Let me know if I need to do more. John |

John, It is a good thing that you are doing. Old classmates DO care about these things and will appreciate knowing about your siblings. ![]() ![]() ![]() If you have any photos of them which you would want to accompany the entry, please send them to me. Carol may scan their senior year Anchor photos. David |
Gentlemen, thank you so much for the information. I didn't see it last night, but I've been processing it all morning. John, I can barely conceive of the unfortunate timing of the deaths of your two siblings. You have my deepest sympathies. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Come, Ye Disconsolate
Words by Thomas
Moore; alt. by Thomas Hastings
Music by Samuel Webbe
Come, ye disconsolate, where'er ye languish.
Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel.
Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish;
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
Joy of the desolate, light of the straying,
Hope of the penitent, fadeless and pure!
Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying,
"Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot cure."
Here see the bread of life; waters flowing
Forth from the throne of God, pure from above.
Come to the feast of love; come, ever knowing
Earth has no sorrow but heaven can remove.
