Momma Zatha, wow, so many memories. I will never forget the sun lecture after Sarah and I used Crisco and zinc oxide in Nags Head to lay out on the beach. Some of my best childhood memories in the Parker house! Steak biscuits from Hardee's and taco salad from Chi Chi's. Zatha was always there for her girls and her adopted girls ( teenage misfit I will truly miss such a wonderful loving Christian woman. I am praying for you, Sarah "Sparker" Wilde. Just remember "Cool beans, Hot rice, and Crispy tortilla chips"!

To Zatha's entire family: I extend my sympathy for you in your time of grief. Zatha was a special person and I never shall forget her. I remember some good talks and interesting times I had with Zatha. We can be sure that she is "Safe in the Arms of Jesus". There is no pain and only clear vision where she is. Our prayers are with the family.

Good Morning, Carol:

... In the Daily Press today is the obituary for Zatha Ann Franks Parker Barnes. She passed away on September 2 and the visitation will be tonight, Wed., Sept. 4th, at Peninsula Funeral Home. The time is 06:00 p.m. until 08:00 p.m. ......The funeral will be tomorrow, Sept. 5th at 02:00 p.m. at Warwick River Mennonite Church with the burial being after the service, across the road (Lucas Creek) in the Mennonite Cemetery......I remember Zatha being a Methodist in high school. Chestnut Avenue Methodist, as I recall. The last time I saw Zatha was at a funeral home visitation. She was a kind and sweet person.....due to being diabetic, she was nearly blind, sad to say. She was in the class of 1962. Unfortunately, she was not at her 50 year reunion last year......I did a memorabilia display for that reunion. I will be doing one for the class of 1963 this year at the same location. I truly love to see all the people that I would probably never see again and those whom I vividly remember in high school.

Thank you so much, Fred.  Zatha's obituary was the first thing I saw this morning when I went online.  I am still shocked.

Hi, Carol,

I went to Zatha's funeral today and there was a nice crowd there, at Warwick River Mennonite Church. She was buried in the church cemetery across the road.....It was a nice tribute to a special person. Most people today call her Ann, her middle name.....I always knew her as Zatha, however.

I think you wanted some dates....She was born January 11, 1944 and died September 2, 2013. I also went to the visitation last night....I met her two daughters and their families. Actually, I had met the two daughters many years ago....of course, they would not have remembered me.

Take care, Fred Mays, '60

Thank you again, Fred.  I'll always remember her as Zatha, too.

Y'all take good care of each other!  TYPHOONS FOREVER! We'll Always Have Buckroe!

                          Love to all, Carol

No. 45 - I Know That My Redeemer Liveth

- G. F. Handel

I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.
And though worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.

(Job 19:25-26)

For now is Christ risen from the dead, the first fruits of them that sleep.

(I Corinthians 15:20)
