I Didn't Know What Time It Was

“I'm not confused, I'm just well mixed.”

- Robert Frost
(26 Mar 1874 - 29 Jan 1963)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's Newsletter theme is special to me. Even though I usually know what time it it, it's usually far later than I would hope it is.

BONUS #1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Op5qL1CvGs - I Didn't Know What Time It Was - Doris Day

BONUS #2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhSufW5l-Gg - I Didn't Know What Time It Was - Frank Sinatra, Pal Joey (1957)

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Didn%27t_Know_What_Time_It_Was:

"I Didn't Know What Time It Was" is a popular song. The music was written by Richard Rodgers and the lyrics by Lorenz Hart for the musical Too Many Girls (1939). Early hit versions included Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw. The Crampton Sisters 1964 revival for the DCP label was a Hot 100 entry.

The song was introduced by Richard Kollmar and Marcy Westcott in the musical Too Many Girls. It was performed by Trudy Erwin – dubbing for Lucille Ball in the 1940 film version produced by RKO – and interpolated into the score of the 1957 film Pal Joey, where it was sung by Frank Sinatra.

A man told his doctor that he wasn't able to do all the things around the house that he used to do.

When the examination was complete, he said, "Now, Doc, I can take it. Tell me in plain English what is wrong with me."

"Well, in plain English," the doctor replied, "you're just lazy."

"Okay," said the man. "Now give me the medical term so I can tell my wife."

I Didn't Know What Time It Was
Lyrics by Lorenz Hart (02 May 1895 – 22 Nov 1943)
Music by
Richard Rodgers (28 June 1902 – 30 Dec 1979)

- From the Show:
Too Many Girls (1939)
- From the Film: Pal Joey (1957)

I didn't know what time it was, then I met you
Oh what a lovely time it was, how sublime it was too!
I didn't know what day it was, you held my hand.
Warm like the month of May it was and I'll say it was grand.
Grand to be alive, to be young, to be mad, to be yours alone!
Grand to see your face, feel your touch, hear your voice say I'm all your own!
I didn't know what year it was, life was no prize.
I wanted love and here it was shining out of your eyes.
I'm wise and I know what time it is now.
