"Dream a Little Dream of Me" is a song with music by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt [1] and lyrics by Gus Kahn.

"Dream a Little Dream of Me" was recorded by Ozzie Nelson and his Orchestra with vocal by Nelson on February 16, 1931 for Brunswick Records. That February 18, Wayne King and His Orchestra with vocal by Ernie Birchill recorded the song for Victor Records. "Dream a Little Dream of Me" was also an early signature tune of Kate Smith.

A top 20 success for Frankie Laine, "Dream a Little Dream" was also recorded by traditional popular music singers of the 1940s and 1950s including Doris Day (who during 1957 was the first latter day singer to record it at the slow tempo in which it had been written), Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, Barbara Carroll, the Nat King Cole trio, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni James on her 1962 jazz influenced album I'm Your Girl, Dean Martin, Vaughn Monroe, Jack Owens, and Dinah Shore.

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 08/28/16:

The conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra was having an issue with the percussion section. During rehearsals, it seems they were having a major problem keeping the proper beat, and the conductor was getting madder by the moment.

"Uh oh," one of the drummers remarked. "I think he's ready to blow."

"You're right," said the cymbal player. "It looks like we're in for a real tempo tantrum!"

Dream a Little Dream of Me

 Music by Fabian Andre (08 Jan 1910 – 30 Mar 1960) and Wilbur Schwandt [1] (28 June 1904 – 23 July 1998)

Lyrics by Gus Kahn (06 Nov 1886 – 08 Oct 1941), 1931

Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper, "I love you"
Birds singin’ in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me

Say nighty-night and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me
While I’m alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me

Stars fading but I linger on dear
Still craving your kiss
I’m longin’ to linger till dawn dear
Just saying this

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me

(instrumental break)

Stars shining up above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "i love you"
Birds singin’ in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me

Yes, dream a little dream of me
