From Marty Whitmore McCoy ('67) of VA to the Class of 1967 - 08/26/07 - "Typhoons":

I thought I had sent this to everyone but seems I have not....Please check out the website for NNHS that Carol Buckley Harty has created and maintains.  It is awesome and you can spend hours looking at all the links.  It shows our old neighborhoods, information about each class, updates on deaths, Faculty, Staff, Students, Sports ...just lots of good information!!

If you want to receive her newsletter which comes out (almost daily) - just send her an email giving her your name, class, (state of residence), email address and also give her (or deny her) permission to post your picture on the Class of 1967 information. I will update her after our reunion on several things.

I know some of you already have seen this site are are on Carol's list.  I have invited her to our reunion and we will also give her a donation from our class for all the work she puts into keeping this site updated.  She has our Reunion information posted and does not charge anything.

Carol's email is NNHS65@gmail.com and the website is http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com

Plan on spending lots of time on this site as it will bring back lots of great NNHS Typhoon memories.

Looking forward to seeing some of you this weekend.

Enjoy!!   :-) Marty & David

WOWZERONI!!! Thanks for this glowing endorsement, Marty!

From Ron Miller ('59) of NC - 08/27/07 - "Old Cars":

Hi Carol -- the following site may be the best video I've seen about 50's & 60's cars and the fun we had with them:

http://oldfortyfives.com/CarsWeDrove.htm

WOWZERONI - Continental kits and lotsa, lotsa chrome!!! I watched Thunder Road on tellybision just the other day.  WOW - This is one of those sites you can just replay a couple of times and pretend you've found that elusive time machine!

Thanks, Ronnie! I added the link to Our Old Cars - fairly near the top of the page:

From Joyce Lawrence Cahoon ('65) of VA - 08/27/07:

Carol,

Thank you for another entertaining newsletter !!  Not the subject of the e-mail,  but the subject box was great.

I'm sure everyone else has already commented but I haven't been checking my mail and this was a great opener.

No need for shooting!  I need some humor in my life!  Thank you.

WHEW! What a relief! Thanks, Joyce!

From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of RI - 08/27/07 - "Hey girl...":

Kathie Avant Taylor ('64 - of GA) was looking for Bonnie Binford Mizelle ('64).  Do you have Bonnie's e-mail that you could forward to Kathie?

Well, Jean, I don't have Bonnie's addy, so I sent this request on to        Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA, and I do believe he has y'all interconnected by now.

Also, does anyone reading the newsletters know what became of Wanda Sheffield?  I was good friends with Barbara, her sister, in elementary school at Woodrow Wilson.  I would love to be in touch with them.

Does anyone know what became of Susan Sands?

Now that I do not know.

   "Anyone?  Anyone?"

   Thanks, Lady!

From Al Simms ('60) of VA - 08/27/07 - "NNHS Dance Band - More Names":

Carol,

One correction and 3 more names for the Dance Band in your last newsletter.

Bob Cohen on Sax was Class of 59 and not Class of 60
John Nickey, Class of 59, was the trumpet player on the left
Dance Band Drummers were    Joe Carney, Class of 59 and Donnie Baker, Class of 61

Al Simms,
Class of 1960

AHA!!! I knew something was askew about Bob Cohen, because I could remember his senior portrait, and couldn't find it in the 1960 Anchor. I couldn't keep checking because my sister     Eleanor (Buckley Nowitzky - '59 - of NC) took her 1959 Anchor back home with her - just because it's HERS, and she wanted to show it to her grandchildren or something.

Can you believe the utter audacity?!?

Thanks, Al! I added your corrections to that page:

http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/SITE-MAP.html

     http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/band.html

          http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/band-59.html

Now - would anyone care to identify the first three Color Guardsmen in this image from the same page?!?

1959 Anchor, p. 49
Band Sweetheart Evelyn Thomas ('59); Drum Major Norman Dick ('60); and Color Guardsmen ?, ?, ?, and Steve Gillis ('61)

OH - thanks for your Triple-Pictures, too! I added the trio to your Alumni Listing:

From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL - 08/27/07 - "Re: 08/27/07 - Good Morning Sunshine":

Hi, Carol:

Well, it sure is nice to see      Harry Covert ('57) of VA has become one of your TYPHOON Nation subscribers. We were Civil Air Patrol Cadets in our youth, along with   Russell Gary Stephenson ('57) of MD and    Fred Hayman ('57) of VA, and we used to fly as Observers in the L-4 single engine aircraft, better known as the "Grasshopper" for good reason. She was used for search and rescue missions, and could fly at a very slow speed to allow observation in detail. Harry has an outstanding website, and is a wonderful writer. I look forward to reading some of his many memories of life on the Peninsula in our youth. As a sport writer, he had access to some of the most colorful coaches and players on the Peninsula. So, come on Harry, we would love to hear your memories also.

TYPHOON Regards,
Joe Madagan ('57) of FL

Major Madagan, is there anything you did not do?!?

I've been enjoying Harry's website for years, and long ago linked it to the site for easy reference:

http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/SITE-MAP.html

     http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/classes.html

          http://www.thecovertletter.com/

And of course, I concur with you.  I'm really looking forward to hearing some more exciting things from Harry!

   Thanks, Adonis!

   From F.A. Saunders (Hampton HS - '64) of VA - 08/28/07:

I saw where      Harry Covert ('57 - of Northern VA) joined the webpage. That name sounds really familiar. I am wondering if this is the same person who was the editor for a small newspaper in Hampton back in the 70's????

F.A. Saunders HHS 64

I moved to Norfolk on 08/30/68, and from thence to Missouri and Illinois for basically the next thirty years on 05/27/71, so I have no direct knowledge of that, F.A., but given Harry's background, I do believe we have a match! Thanks!

From one of my Famous Marines,  Herb Hice of MI, who served in the Pacific Theater during WWII - 08/28/07 - "Dear Carol, Please RUSH those Pictures of 'DIMPLES'":

Dear Carol,

YES, I would love to see pictures of the ALLEGEDLY "Most BEAUTIFUL WOMAN in the WORLD", (DIMPLES DINWIDDIE Prichard) ('58 - of NC).

I am so excited I can Hardly "Contain" myself. Also you must enter them in your Newsletter's "Age progression Pictures", HURRY, I can hardly wait.

Your Friend, Herbie

Good Day Sunshine

Lyrics and Music by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, 196

Good day sunshine, good day sunshine, good day sunshine

I need to laugh and when the sun is out
I've got something I can laugh about
I feel good in a special way
I'm in love and it's a sunny day

Good day sunshine, good day sunshine, good day sunshine

We take a walk, the sun is shining down
Burns my feet as they touch the ground

Good day sunshine, good day sunshine, good day sunshine

Then we'd lie beneath the shady tree
I love her and she's loving me
She feels good, she knows she's looking fine
I'm so proud to know that she is mine

Good day sunshine, good day sunshine, good day sunshine
Good day sunshine, good day sunshine, good day sunshine
Good day sunshine,
(Good day sunshine, good day sunshine, good day sunshine) (fade out)
