For Once in My Life

“Once in his life, every man is entitled to fall
madly in love with a gorgeous redhead.”

- Lucille Ball

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's Newsletter is a rerun... but then again this year they are almost all reruns!

BONUS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imsB543zqSM - For Once in My Life - Stevie Wonder, @ 1968

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_Once_in_My_Life:

"For Once in My Life" is a swing song written by Ron Miller and Orlando Murden for Motown Records' Jobete publishing company in 1967 (see 1967 in music). The composition was originally recorded by Jean DuShon, while other artists, such as Tony Bennett and The Temptations, recorded slow ballad versions of the song. Jack Soo was the first male artist to record a version of the song—it never made it to any public market and the recording was permanently shelved in the Motown Records archives.[1][2]

The most familiar and successful version of "For Once in My Life" is an uptempo arrangement by Stevie Wonder, recorded immediately after DuShon's original.[citation needed] Wonder's version (issued on Motown's Tamla label) was a top-three hit in the United States in late 1968 and early 1969...

“How much pressure is too much pressure to remain true? How much disappointment is too much disappointment to stand firm? How far is too far to walk with a discouraged friend, or a struggling spouse, or a troubled child? When the opposition heats up and the going gets tough, how much of what we thought was important to us will we defend and how much, in that inevitable tug and pull of life, will we find it convenient to give away?”

BONUS CROCHET PATTERNS (Sorry; not theme-related):

http://daisycottagedesigns.net/crochet-roundup/fall-crochet-patterns/ - Lauren's Fall Crochet Patterns - "Fall is right around the corner, friends! I couldn’t be more excited. This roundup of 15 fall crochet patterns is right up my alley, and makes me very excited about the coming of my favorite season. I love apple cider, driving through the mountains looking at leaves, and everything else that goes with autumn. Unfortunately, summer and fall aren’t that much different here in Central Florida. Instead of crisp, cool air we’ll be enjoying hot, humid afternoons. Thankfully, crochet patterns like this can help me feel like it’s fall even when it’s toasty outside."

For Once in My Life

Written by Ron Miller (c. 1933 - July 23, 2007) and Orlando Murden, 1967

Recorded by Stevie Wonder, 1968
(b. 13 May 1950)

For once in my life I have someone who needs me
Someone I've needed so long
For once, unafraid, I can go where life leads me
And somehow I know I'll be strong

For once I can touch what my heart used to dream of
Long before I knew
Someone warm like you
Would make my dreams come true

For once in my life I won't let sorrow hurt me
Not like it's hurt me before
For once, I have something I know won't desert me
I'm not alone anymore

For once, I can say, this is mine, you can't take it
As long as I know I have love, I can make it
For once in my life, I have someone who needs me
