From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 08/25/05:

Didja notice that Angie Ray's ('64) picture (Second Week Finalists) is on the WGH

NOOOO - I hadn't noticed that at ALL!!  How COOL!!!  Thanks, Dave!

From Margaret Burns-Edwards ('67) of VA - 08/25/05:

Carol, Thank you so much for the article about my sister. I will mail you the articles that I have as well.
When I made the offer about cards to Connie (Dickson Mitchell - '67), I thought that the cards would
be sent by snail mail. Either way, I will get anything that comes this way to her. I read her everything
(on the sites) today.  She was pleased to hear some of the names of those that wrote in.. Connie has multiple
myeloma. She has cancer in her spine, ribs, hips and legs. She has a tumor on her spine and is receiving
radiation to shrink the tumor (possibility of paralysis!!!). On Wednesday, 08/24/05, Connie collapsed.  She
is in Riverside again, and is receiving plasma transfusions. (My brother, Robert Burns - NNHS 70? - is a
plasma donor!!)  She is looking at a POSSIBLE bone-marrow transplant. I told her I would head up a bone
marrow drive. I will let you know as I know.
Connie is in good spirits and has a very deep rooted faith in God.  She is a very special person to me and I
know that any card will cheer her up tremendously. Thank you so much and God Bless.
My address is :
Floral Fashions/ Connie Mitchell
458 D Wythe Creek Road
Poquoson, VA 23662
Floral Fashions of Poquoson Inc

Thanks for the update, Margaret - and for clarifying your very generous offer as well.  Keep us posted on the
bone marrow drive so that we can disseminate that information.  Please give our love and best wishes to Connie,
and let her know that she remains in our thoughts and prayers.

Y'all get those cards for Connie in the mail to Margaret as soon as you can, please!

From Cheryl Pless Ramsey ('64) of VA - 08/25/05:

Hi Carol!

So very glad you are back!!  Was having severe withdrawal after not receiving your great newsletters
for a few months.

I did want to wish everyone a wonderful 40th Reunion Class of ’65!!!  Carol, you do so much to keep all us
Typhoons in touch-we couldn’t get along without ya!

My husband Pat and I will be leaving tomorrow for a cross country journey to Western Wyoming to join the
rest of the Ramsey Gang for another great reunion!  We won’t return home until Sept. 15, so I want to wish
you a wonderful August 30 birthday!!

I plan to celebrate my own special Virgo date with a favorite bottle of vino and great friends.

Take good care of yourself!!

                                    Cheryl Pless Ramsey (64)

Thanks so much, Cheryl, I really appreciate that!  It's wonderful to be back; I missed y'all so!

Have a great and safe journey!  We'll be thinking of you on September 8!

From Sarah Puckett Kressaty ('65) of VA - 08/25/05:

OK, I LOVE that song ("When I Grow Too Old to Dream") also!  I can't remember if we sang it in concert
choir or not but I sang it somewhere!

I would "call" you but just realized it 9:45!!!  A little late!  Maybe tomorrow!  Later!

Thanks, Lady!  It's a fun song to sing!  I love it, too!

That usually wouldn't be a problem, but it's just as well you didn't call that late last night.  I had only had four hours
of sleep the night before, and not much more than that the previous two nights, so all you would have reached was
a Zombie!  WILD GIGGLES!!!

Thanks, Sarah Sugah!  I'll talk to you soon!

From Melody Clendenin DeBerry (Warwick HS - '66) of VA - 08/25/05:

Hi, Carol,
What a joy to see you back in action again.... but I didn't get a "birth" announcement!  I guess ours got lost
in the e-mail - he he!
Thank you for recognizing Jim and Dave Spriggs on their mutual birthday Aug. 19.  Jim got such a kick out
of the newspaper announcement, Dave.  His mother and our children were here to celebrate the day, and
saw the newsletter, too.  I'm sure Bill Clinton appreciated the birthday recognition, also:)
I would like to remind you to add our e-mail address on the e-mail page by Jimmy's name:  JIMMEL25@cox.net
Also, on the birthday list, would you change Wayne DeBerry's graduation year to '65?  Thanks so much.
Sadly, I talked to a mutual friend last night about Thelma Spade Roberts ('57 - of VA) and it's a day by day
situation.  Please, please everyone pray for her.  Her only child is with her, and has her two baby boys there, too.
Also, as Joe Madagan ('57 - of FL) told you, her sister Charlotte is staying with her at Thelma's home
in Chesapeake.  Hospice help is coming in, also.  I am so in shock that her condition worsened so quickly.  Our
friend, Joyce Peck Armstrong (HHS and FHS '64) went to stay with her last evening to give her daughter
time to be with her children.  Life is tough sometimes - we all need each other, don't we?
Carol, keep on with your good humor and sweet messages.  It gives us all a reason to turn on our computers
in the morn!  God bless you!
Melody Clendenin DeBerry (The NNHS Wannabe)

Thanks, Melody!  It is SO GOOD to be back!!!  Actually, this outrageous Newsletter WAS the birth announcement:

Notice that its tone and music differ substantially from the norm....

I'm so glad Jimmy enjoyed that newspaper clipping Dave found!  What a treasure!

You know, somehow I forgot to send a copy of that Newsletter to Bill:

Perhaps someone will forward it to him belatedly.......  WILD GIGGLES!!!

I have at last added your email addy to the '64 Contact page - thanks!

And, YOWZERS!!!  How could I have made such a silly typo on Wayne's graduation date?!?  It's been there
for months, and I never even spotted it.  All I can imagine is that I was typing in the dark, and mistook a "3"
for a "5".  And no, I can't type without looking at the keyboard.  My mama could never understand how I could
play a flute without looking at my fingers, and couldn't transpose the same system to a keyboard.  Well, I don't
understand either, but there are a lot more keys on a keyboard than there are on a flute!  But I fixed it at last:

I am so grieved to hear about Thelma.  I only came to know her through emails, but it was obvious what a
truly remarkable person she is.  She and her family remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for all your kind words, Melody!  I still think that somehow I've truly known you my whole life.

From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 08/25/05:

I had fallen way behind in notifying you of donors to the Treasury .....

That list is attached ..... Just add these folks to the existing list on

Oh, I suppose you could mention them in a Newsletter.

Indeed I shall, David - thanks!

This page has undergone a redesign to correct an instability:

Also from Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 08/26/05:

It is time to add a new page to the Class of 1964 Reunion page. I suggest the following title:

The inaugural meeting of the NNHS Class of 1964 60th Birthday Celebration Committee
was held at 6:00 PM, 25 August 2005, at the Bank of America at Patrick Henry Mall.
In attendance were:
Cookie Phillips Tyndall
Dave Spriggs
Faith Strickland Groom (and husband Nelson)
Ray Staton
Tom Flax
Several ideas for a celebration sometime in 2006 were informally discussed. It was agreed
that we would draft a letter and send it to all NNHS 64 Class Members soliciting ideas and
time frames for a celebration.  If you are a NNHS 1964 alumnus reading this, please begin
thinking about what you would like to do and when you would like to do it. Also, if your
mailing or e-mail address or other contact information has changed since July 2004, please
e-mail your revised information to

WOWZERONI-RINI!!! Thanks so much, David!  That is very exciting, happy news!

Here's your brand new page:

From Gene Collins Glave ('60) of SC - 08/26/05:

How fun to read the newsletters! You can publish either or both of my e-mail addresses:
glaveg@bellsouth.net or gene.glave@ropersaintfrancis.com
I have some pictures from the class of '60 reunion night if you'd like me to pass them on.
Neta (Collins Hastings - '60 - of VA) and I had one camera between us!! I have scanned them
into this computer and would be happy to send them. My sister, Pauline (Collins Shofner - '65
- of VA)
, has invited me to go with her and husband, Charles, to your class reunion and I would
love to do that. I do have a play I am in that opens in October, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to or
not. Rats!
"When I Grow too Old to Dream" was a favorite of our grandmother's, but it's not something I
whistle in the dark to give me comfort!!!.
Once again...it's fun visiting this site. Keep up the good work!

Thank you, Gene!  I posted the first email addy next to your name on the Alumni Page:

And - OOOOH - I'd love to have those photos from your reunion!  Thanks so much!

I certainly hope your schedule will allow you to join us in October, because as Pauline has told you, we are going
to have FUN!!!

Yes, I can think of a few songs more uplifting than that one, now that you mention it!  HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!  Come
to think of it, this one is a goodie!

   Thanks again, Gene!

Y'all have a good weekend - and take care of each other!  TYPHOONS FOREVER!

                          Love to all, Carol

I Love How You Love Me

(Bobby Vinton)

I love how your eyes close whenever you kiss me
And when I'm away from you I love how you miss me
I love the way you always treat me tenderly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me (love how you love me)

I love how your heart beats whenever I hold you
I love how you think of me without being told to
I love the way your touch is always heavenly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me (love how you love me)

I love how your eyes close whenever you kiss me
And when I'm away from you I love how you miss me
I love the way your touch is always heavenly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me (love how you love me)

I love how you hug me (love how you hug me)
I love how you squeeze me, tease me, please me
Love---how you love me
I love how you love me
