08/24/16 - NNHS Newsletter - Barbara Ann

The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you,
not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet
somewhere. They're in each other all along.”

Maulana Jalalu'ddin Rumi
(30 Sept 1207 - 17 Dec 1273)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Summer's winding down, but there's still time for some good ol' summer dance music!

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wbMqRO6lnc - Barbara Ann - The Beach Boys, 1965

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Ann:

"Barbara Ann" is a song written by Fred Fassert and performed (as "Barbara Anne") by The Regents in 1961. The recording reached a peak position of #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 record chart.

The most famous cover version is by the American rock band The Beach Boys. The song was released as a single on December 20, 1965, with the B-side "Girl Don't Tell Me". The song peaked at #2 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 (#1 in Cash Box and Record World) and at #3 in the U.K. It also topped the charts in Germany, Switzerland and Norway. It was The Beach Boys' biggest hit in Italy, reaching #4. The song was also released on the 1965 album Beach Boys' Party!. Brian Wilson and Dean Torrence, who had previously recorded the song as one half of Jan and Dean, are featured on lead vocals. Dean is not credited on the album jacket but "Thanks, Dean" is said by Carl at the end of the track...[1]

PRAYER REQUEST:

My Husband, Paul Harty (Bardolph HS, IL - '61) of NC, is having another bout with his congestive heart failure, complicated by stasis dermatitis and celluitis of his lower extremities, as well as third stage renal failure. He saw his primary physician yesterday, who ordered an EKG, a chest X-ray, a breathing test with a pulse spirometer, and blood work. These results will be given to us at our next appointment on 08/30/16. Meanwhile, he has as an appointment with a cardiologist on 09/06/16, and will soon have one with his nephrologist. These delightful episodes invariably occur two weeks before payday when we have zero funds available. All prayers are greatly appreciated.

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 08/23/15:

A fellow bought a new Mercedes and was out on the interstate for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair and he decided to open her up.

As the needle jumped up to 80 mph, he suddenly saw flashing red and blue lights behind him.

"There's no way they can catch a Mercedes," he thought to himself and opened her up further. The needle hit 90, 100.... Then the reality of the situation hit him. "What am I doing?" he thought and pulled over.

The cop came up to him, took his license without a word and examined it and the car.

"It's been a long day, this is the end of my shift and it's Friday the 13th. I don't feel like more paperwork, so if you can give me an excuse for your driving that I haven't heard before, you can go."

The guy thought for a second and said, "Last week my wife ran off with a cop. I was afraid you were trying to give her back!"

"Have a nice weekend," said the officer.
