Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
We have more sad news this Sunday morning. Jackie Lackey Allred, Class of June 1946, passed away in Newport News on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the age of 80.

Jacquelyn Lackey Allred died Aug. 21, 2008. She was born 80 years ago in
Newport News. She graduated from Newport News High School and then Longwood College. She taught at George Wythe Junior High School and Hampton High School. Jackie was a lifetime member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Jackie is survived by her devoted husband, Alfred A. Allred. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past April. She is also survived by many beloved family members. Jackie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lackey (deceased) of Hampton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church. It will be officiated by the Rev. John Etcher. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
