"Since I Don't Have You" is a song by the doo-wop group The Skyliners. Released in 1958, the single reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also the top five of the R&B chart. The song, highlighted by a powerful vocal by lead singer Jimmy Beaumont, and a falsetto on the final chorus by Janet Vogel, is considered by oldies fans to be one of the best "heartbreak" ballads ever recorded, and a classic of pre-Beatles rock and roll, and is still frequently played on the radio. The song was featured in the films American Graffiti, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Lethal Weapon 2, and Mischief.

Update! Don is coming home today. Much improved. No more cancer found. Still needs to recover for a while with only clear liquids until another swallowing test is dome. Thank you all sooooooooooo much for all the prayers & love & support!

August 20, 1940 - British Prime Minister Winston Churchill made the fourth of his famous wartime speeches, containing the line, "Never was so much owed by so many to so few ".
August 20, 1944 - 168 captured allied airmen, including Phil Lamason, accused by the Gestapo of being "terror fliers", arrived at Buchenwald concentration camp.

Friday, August 20, 1965 - Keene, New Hampshire Episcopal seminarian Jonathan Daniels, 26, was martyred; murdered by shotgun at point-blank range in Hayneville, Alabama, by an unpaid sheriff's deputy, sacrificing his life for young black activist Ruby Sales whom he pushed out of the way of the blast.

Friday, August 20, 1965 - Rapper, producer, and actor (Boogie Down Productions) KRS-One was born Lawrence Parker in The Bronx, New York.

      From My Husband, Paul Harty (Bardolph HS, IL - '61) of NC - 08/19/15 - "Got my concealed carry permit yesterday":

GOT MY CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT YESTERDAY

In the afternoon, I went over to the local Bass Pro Shop to get a small 9mm handgun for home/personal protection.

When I was ready to pay for the pistol and ammo, the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me."

Making a mental note to complain to the NRA about the gun control wackos running amok, I did just as she had instructed.

When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out she was referring to how I should place my credit card in the card reader!!!

As an intelligent senior citizen, I do not get flustered often. But this time, it took me a while to get my pants back on.

I've been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to seniors a little more clear.

I still don't think I looked that bad.

   This guy has a great sense of humor...love his creativity. Here is a guy with talent who is having a good time for all to enjoy.

   David Zinn is an artist from Michigan. He runs around all day in the streets of Ann Arbor, with street construction, cracks, etc. on the road with chalk to create a lot of street fairy tales.
