08/09/16 - NNHS Newsletter - Red Flag

“Using a metaphor in front of a man as unimaginative as Ridcully
was like a red flag to a bull, was like putting something
very annoying in front of someone who was annoyed by it.”

- Terry Pratchett
(b. 28 Apr 1948)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's theme admittedly can be interpreted in a variety of ways.....

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Flag_(song):

"Red Flag" is the second single released from the Canadian rock group Billy Talent's EP, Red Flags and second album, Billy Talent II. The single was released on September 11, 2006 in the United Kingdom.[1]

Red Flag was originally released in 2005 as a part of the soundtracks of a number of Electronic Arts video games, including NHL 06, Burnout Revenge, Burnout Legends, and SSX On Tour. As well, a leaked demo of the song made its way across the internet. This demo was released by Atlantic Records on the Black Sampler II. The album version is different from the earlier release, with the bridge and refrain having been changed. It has also been used in the soundtrack for the 2007 movie TMNT.

Red Flag

Written and performed by members of Billy Talent, 2006
(Jonathan Gallant, Ian D'Sa, Aaron Solowoniuk, and Benjamin Kowalewicz)

Cast off the crutch that kills the pain,
The red flag wavin' never meant the same,
The kids of tomorrow don't need today,
When they live in the sins of yesterday. (x2)

Well, I've never seen us act like this,
Our only hope is the minds of kids,
And they'll show us a thing or two.

Our only weapons are the guns of youth,
It's only time before they tighten the noose,
And then the hunt will be on for you.

The red flag wavin' never meant the same, NO
The red flag wavin' never meant the same

Cast off the crutch that kills the pain,
The red flag wavin' never meant the same,
The kids of tomorrow don't need today,
When they live in the sins of yesterday. (x2)

Like a smallest bee packs a sting,
Like a pawn checkmates a king,
We'll attack at the crack of dawn.

Build a ladder if there's a wall,
Don't be afraid to slip and fall,
Speak for yourself or they'll speak for you.

The red flag wavin never meant the same, NO
The red flag wavin never meant the same

Cast off the crutch that kills the pain,
The red flag wavin never meant the same,
The kids of tomorrow don't need today,
When they live in the sins of yesterday. (x2)

Like a fire don't need water,
Like a jury needs a liar,
Like a riot don't need order,
Like a mad man needs a martyr.

We don't need them.(x8)

Cast off the crutch that kills the pain,
The red flag wavin' never meant the same,
The kids of tomorrow don't need today,
When they live in the sins of yesterday. (x2)

(We don't need them, we don't need them) Cast off the crutch that kills the pain
(We don't need them, we don't need them) The Red Flag waving never meant the same
(We don't need them, we don't need them) The kids of tomorrow don't need today
(We don't need them, we don't need them) When they live in the sins of yesterday

We don't need them.
