Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Sad news comes yet once more this morning.  Moshie Prince Becker, mother of    Sidney Becker ('65) of VA, Tommy Becker of MD, Jon Becker of VA, and Andy Becker of VA, has passed away in Newport News at the age of 85.

From the Daily Press - 08/03/07:

          Mildred (Moshie) Prince Becker

NEWPORT NEWS - Mildred (Moshie) Prince Becker was born Feb. 4, 1922, one of nine children, to Isadore and Annie Prince, in Mobile, Ala. She died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at her home, surrounded by her family. Moshie was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Milton S. Becker. She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney and Cynthia Becker of Newport News, Tommy and Allene Becker of Silver Spring, Md., Jon and Susan Becker of Norfolk, and Andy and Dee Dee Becker of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, including Margaret and Adam Becker, Evelyn (Larry Schwartz), Michael, Rebecca and Brian Becker, Amy, Katie, and Jennifer Becker and Lisa Klinger (Zamir Klinger) and Brenna Becker; two great-grandchildren, Caleb Becker-Schwartz and Leora Klinger; her sister, Ruth Lamensdorf; her brothers, Marvin Prince and Arthur Prince; and many nieces and nephews. Moshie showed her love for the Jewish community by volunteering her time with Hadassah, Adath Jeshurun Synagogue Ladies Auxiliary and helping Russian Jewish families assimilate into the local community. Her family and friends will always remember her extraordinary love for her boys, her endearing personality and quick wit. While she spent more than 60 years in Newport News, she always carried a special place in her heart for her family and friends in Mobile and never missed an opportunity to share a good story. Her unconditional love provided a great source of strength for everyone she touched. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Rodef Sholom Temple by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg of Temple Beth El, Norfolk. Burial will follow in Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hadassah, Rodef Sholom Temple, or the charity of your choice. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
