Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   

    We have another sad Memorial Edition of the NNHS Newsletter today.   Retired Peninsula attorney,       Stanley Drucker, Class of June 1947, brother of      Erwin Drucker (February '46) of VA and    Barbara Drucker Smith ('54) of VA, passed away in Newport News on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the age of 79.  May his memory be for a blessing always.

     Stanley W. Drucker  

NEWPORT NEWS - Stanley W. Drucker passed away peacefully early in the morning on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, following a short illness after 79 great years of life.

The son of the late Loraine and Louis Drucker, Stanley grew up in Newport News. He graduated from Newport News High School, and then attended the University of Virginia and the University Law School, where he was a member of the Raven Society and Order of the Coif. Upon graduating, he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Judge Advocate General Corps. He returned to Newport News where he practiced law for more than 50 years.


Stanley Drucker




Stanley was an active member in our community and served on many volunteer boards. He was a member of the Hampton Roads Jaycees and received its Distinguished Service Award. Before serving as president of the United Community Service Board (United Way), he chaired the Peninsula United Fund. In recent years, Stanley regularly delivered Meals on Wheels with pleasure.

Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margo; his three devoted daughters, Karen, Laurie, and Ann and their partners; four precious grandchildren, Loraina, Louisa (LuLu), Eliana, and Avi Benjamin; brother, Erwin; sister, Barbara Smith; and four nieces and nephews.

Stanley will always be remembered as a man of great integrity, generosity and true compassion. He lit up with love whenever he laid eyes upon his children. He will be deeply missed.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, at Rodef Sholom Temple, 318 Whealton Rd., Hampton. Burial will follow at the Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia Peninsula.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to your favorite charity.

Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I never met Stanley but I can tell by his picture he was accurately described in the obituary. I'll remember you in the morning watch, Margo, and my heart hurts for you and your family.

Oh! I just saw this. I am so sorry. I knew Stanley from events all over the city, and just saw him at the PFAC fundraiser. He was quite a guy. Everyone will miss him. Barbara, Vince and I are so sorry. Sorry this isn't very eloquent; I'm in a bit of a shock. Many hugs.

Dear Margo - I just read the sad news of Stanley's passing. I just got out of the hospital and am hooked up to oxygen, so I can't come to the funeral. I know what you are going through. This is when you give thanks for family and friends. Let them help. It takes time, but the memories are always there. They never go away. Love, Sonny
